I'm in Fleetwood and the trip is 40 minute round trip. If I do go at 4 or 5 am when border lineups are non existent both ways. But I won't go just to get gas. I'll go to pick up something purchased from the states or take my family to a park over there.

I wish Ford would add a diesel option to the F150...while the 2.7V6 sounds like an amazing idea, Ford proved that it can keep up with their fuel promises - e.g. the Ford Fusion Ecoboost engines aren't more efficient than the competition....etc etc.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

^^Pretty amazing weight shedding...only 700lbs heavier than the Berlin taxi.

The new Fords are compelling IMO, the most intriguing trucks to me for 2015 so far.

To which I'll add this http://www.autoblog.com/2014/07/22/2015-ford-f-150-specs-revealed-ecoboost/ with videos.

Why's the Chevy faster when it's colder?  Don't turbo's like cold?
I wish they'd send the 3.5 up another 40 hp or so, and torques too.   ;D

The numbers for the 2.7 are impressive. However, I really question the longevity of such a small displacement turbo V6 powering a full size pickup.

I'm always afraid those would end up being a waste of money...and never seeming to get out of warranty before I get the next one, what would happen should something blow in the first 100,000 km?  Unless of course I get the dealer to sell it to me and install it (or the service adviser, since that's what he does on the side, I'm sure I can get him to cover my arse should something go wrong. Hmmm...).  If the factory did it though, I wouldn't need to worry about being caught "cheating".

Tuners are awesome on diesel trucks...at least the older ones. Cheap, reliable and huge upgrades in power and fuel efficiency improvements. Basic kit required a tuner, turbo-back exhaust and air intake. After that things get more expensive.

Don't know about gas engines though...

I really wonder where yahoos will get their pickem-up-trucks with aluminum bodies fixed when they crash them. I would think not too many body shops in northern Alberta can handle it.

They won't be "fixing" them.  New panels...which any bodyshop can install.

What about the structure underneath and what will those new body panels cost? Not that it matters, pick'em-up trucks are the most successful goober-wallet-depletion device in history.

What are you talking about?  Love them or hate them, full-size pick ups offer an incredible value, given the price competition in the segment.  Insurance is also lower on pickups, at least it is for my insurance provider.  You can't look at the comparatively poor fuel economy as being determinative of total cost of ownership.

You have to realize where he is from, in Vancouver you would get hemp sandals tossed at you if you drove a truck.

   I had a similar reaction from TO downtown residents to my FJ. The area is just not compatible with driving of ...anything.

really?

in the late 90s I had no issues driving up and into downtown Toronto with my dad's Sierra.
meanwhile my friend's dad who living downtown (as a single guy) drove a freaking Tahoe for a couple years.   When he was giving us a ride I asked him why in the world would he drive such a monster downtown.........

he said
because NOBODY will ever dare cut me off!   :rofl2:

Exactly. For a first owner a turbo won't cause any grief. It's the second or third that are going to have to worry about it. Modern vehicles have loads of power and don't need any more anyway. Trucks are all about torque anyway. in fact 99% of driving is all about torque. A great example is the VW 2.0 turbo. Not huge horsepower buy since it makes bags of torque right off the line, it feels very lively.
