My buddy's got a 2016 Ram (bought new) with the 3.6 and the 8 Speed ZF.  His is a little higher spec'd, being an Outdoorsman, but he's been very happy with it.  It's a workhorse - he's got about 250 000kms on it right now, and it's required nothing other than basic maintenance.  Well, other than the fact that he keeps on blowing out the rear window due to loading his quad in the back of the truck.  It's kind of a running joke, I keep bugging him to buy a trailer for his quad, and he just says replacing a window every so often is still cheaper, lol.

I think his lifetime average is around 11 L/100km, but he also does a lot of highway driving - he's got a property out in the country, and does rural sales visits with it.

Yeah the 3.6L has been around forever.  I did not want to adventure myself into new powertrains and didn't want any turbo stuff, keep it simple.   My commute is mostly slow highway so I'm hoping my average is close to that.    My current 2006 Hybrid lifetime average is 10.3L. so not far off.

Congrats!

I don't know anything about what the ownership experience is like, but I've always enjoyed driving the Rams I got as rentals or company vehicles.

Congrats WP, looking forward to hearing about the ownership experience.

I haven't driven a Ram since my Dad's 1992 D150 regular cab 2wd with the 318.  I have ridden in quite a few newer 2500s though.

Was a special dedicated bunch that drove Dodge pickups back then, especially the gas versions. Think they only got mainstream with the next generation
