That's a lot of money for an "S" when you can get a GTS or Turbo for pretty much the same money...

Those are my favorite Macan wheels though!
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Can you? I don't recall seeing them for that cheap. Especially the GTS since the first year for them was '17.

Yes.

I look every few days. Though the GTS is more typically found for $35k or so. So $33k for an S or $35k (or so) for a GTS is a no brainer.

I found this 2015 Porsche Macan Turbo on AutoTrader: http://www.autotrader.ca/go/19-12792304

I found this 2017 Porsche Macan GTS on AutoTrader: http://www.autotrader.ca/go/5-61652868

Personally, I'd go for this one.

LOVE the spec!

That seems like a lot of car for the money.

If they don't bankrupt you in the process!

For awhile, the Macan was among the most costly "luxury" cars to maintain and repair.

Probably still the case today.

But I sure do like these hot hatches!

Never followed the pricing on them, just posted the ad here since 1) sad situation with young widow and 2) I saw the car in person, it’s parked next to my upcoming BaT listing

Doug Demuro wrote a piece recently about how cheap early Panameras are getting: https://www.motortrend.com/features/buy-used-porsche-panamera-doug-demuro-column/

So I went looking on AutoTrader and found this one: https://www.autotrader.ca/a/porsche/panamera/edmonton/alberta/5_61739355_20120229092122974/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&orup=4_12_12&sprx=-1

$22k at a Porsche dealer, 188k on it, based on the CarFax it's a one owner car that spent a lot of time in California. Seems to have all the desirable performance options like PDCC, air suspension, sport chromo, 18 way seats, sport exhaust, 21" RS Spyder wheels, etc. I know Panameras are generally considered to be reliable so I wonder what the ongoing runnings costs of something like this would be.

I wonder how the V8s are holding up in these? I believe I read that the V8s in the first gen Cayenne had bore score issues.

I would go base V6 without the fancy suspension for lower operating costs.

Bleccch.  Base V6 is an absolute snoozefest.  And its not like the hunchback styling makes it lust-worthy either.

The numbers suggest not a snoozefest?

I agree. Not the fastest but definitely acceptable for an all round DD.

I suppose by the standards of 13 years ago, it was decently quick. The one I drove a year so back really left me underwhelmed (especially compared to the GTS I had enjoyed the year prior).  https://www.autotrader.ca/editorial/20221206/2022-porsche-panamera-4-platinum-edition-review/
The problem is now, cars that cost less than the V6 Panamera feel much more special (last year's BMW M550i, for example).

The problem with that is you'd be a BMW owner instead of a Porsche owner...

The Macan S/GTS/Turbo's six cylinder is absolutely atrocious to own... metal in the oil, straight up engines seizing... there's a reason that replacement motors are so hard to find at a reasonable price. They're all already blown. My building's mortgage is hugely contributed to by failing Macans.

It's a shame because they're so nice to drive. The 2.0T is really the way to go, because while they're "slow", they still have decent driving dynamics and cost of ownership will be significantly lower.

Also @Blueprint - $33,500 for a 130k+ km Macan S is basically Toronto retail market value. We've moved a few of them around the $30K mark with similar or lower mileage.

Too bad. Aren't some models of these using an engine sourced from Audi? Are the transfer cases at all problematic or was that only for Cayennes?
