Do a manual conversion?

Interesting..wonder how rare that is

I know...I would even buy it with the auto, such a nice looking car in my favorite colour
Plus the 911 does a great job as a GT car...is still fun despite auto IMO

Agree...something tells me I'll be doing an internet deep dive into auto 993s lol

Or this beauty for the same price...check out the interior...and G50 :)

Don't like that interior.

Would have been better with some type of houndstooth IMO.

G50? That car has the 915 tranny as far as I can see. I don't mind the seats, look like sports seats even.

Yep....915 in 1986....

The sport seats I'm thinking of had the little black squares...not pinstripes...which I don't like.  I think these look cheap.

You’re right! Was too excited lol...

I guess the other issue now that I look at it more is that the car is already sort of personalized...back to the 993

How about this one?

Very nicely modded with many of the usual fixes and improvements owners do.  This would be an excellent driver.

Yep...enthusiast owner.

And knowing his part list (I had many of the same parts) this guy spent a lot of time researching and on the forums.

This is the type of owner you want to buy from...

nice looking car, but did those seriously still use a distributor cap and rotor in 1995??...i thought everything went to electronic ignition well before that.

On the modern / new front, one new model that was just released is peaking my interest: 2020 Cayman T. Based on the standard options and packaging, plus the European reviews, this is a pure sports car that is better than the sum of its part, as they say. Pros / Cons, for me:

Pros
- Custom ordering a new Porsche would be fun - get exactly what I want
- Now worries - warranty, no time expanded digging car histories
- Basically plug and play
- If optioned lightly, depreciation should be light
- A little special

Cons
- Not the traditional Porsche flat 6
- Even lightly equipped, high $70s - instantly draws comparisons to used market

IIRC, it actually has 2 distributor caps and 12 spark plugs.    Distributors are still electronic ignition, but not coil-on-plug  as  you no doubt mean.

Maybe wait for the rumored GTS 4.0? Basically a GTS with a detuned GT4 engine.

Edit: Just priced out a T. Nice thing is that everything you "need" is standard. I added $7k in features (LED lights, heated seats, comfort access, Bose, Apple CarPlay, heated multifunction steering wheel, auto dimming mirrors) but you could forgo most of those if you wanted to.

Exactly! Pretty perfect out of the box. The only option I'd be looking at adding is the T interior package, though at $3K I could pass, rear wiper!, and paint.

I have a feeling the GTS with a 4.0 flat six, if it comes, will be pushing at or past $100K.

IMO...the flat 6 is the whole reason to own a Porsche. It gives the experience so much life...character...excitement. The engine itself is special.

Don't get one with a 4 banger....you'd be doing yourself a disservice.

People look at the 415hp figure which pales in comparison to modern super cars, but the old 996 also weighs less than many new cars.

But the 996 is ferocious off the line and can hit nearly 200mph.

500HP/500TQ with just an ECU flash.  It's that simple.

I do note that most reviews and articles don't mention the one weak point.  The coolant pipe flanges are held in with adhesive and they will eventually fail.  The fix is to pin them in..or if the engine is out, weld them.

Something to keep in mind if you're a buyer.
