Maybe we need a thread of "used beaters".  Some rules, like under $2000

I wish you many trouble free years Adi.

10/10 would read that thread.

And yeah, it was about a quarter of that price... including the plate sticker.

Nice!

is this a halifax made car?

It may have been -- though I believe the last of our 240s came fron Sweden.

I posted somewhere on here a couple of years ago that Volvo could do a lot worse than remake the 240, especially the wagon, with a modern power train.    4 good seats, good all round visibility, and tough.  With modern anti corrosion treatment on the body they would still be running in 2099.   Seeing the pics above I see no reason to change that opinion.

Nice grab and great idea considering the car's intended purpose!

Sold. Will miss it dearly, but the buyer's wife had a 788,000km wagon and actually has the VIN plate from that car tattooed onto her. They're going to restore it, put a clean set of BBS wheels on it, and enjoy the heck out of it.

Will miss you, Estelle!

OK, now THAT's dedicated.  :o

Adi, did you do any work on the Volvo while you had it?

Nothing outside of routine maintenance. Did the fluids, plugs, wires, a new battery, etc... a few small things. I got it with 278,000km and it's now at 281,400. I changed the oil every 5 months religiously, since I'd never hit the kilometre interval.

Very nice! There’s a guy here in Ottawa who is putting in LS into his beige 240 wagon. He calls it “project beige”. I love those 240s. They have a certain honesty of design to them. One of the few cars that looks just as good as a sedan as a wagon IMHO. I'm a big fan of wagons.

I LOVE that tattoo idea.  Maybe I should get one of the C30's VIN.

In our one marque 3 cars thread, a 240 wagon was one of my choices.

Volvo freaks, they are out there. I was told at numerous Volvo events when I had the 1800 that the 900 series was essentially the 200 series with the poor design wrinkles worked out .  I cam real close to picking up a 99 S90 a few years back. It was the last of the RWDs and a cream puff from Victoria. I still think I missed a good one.

Those old S90/V90 models were very nice.

Especially with a 5.0 swap.  ;D

Watched Chasing Classic Cars last night.  It was the episode where Carini bought Paul Newman's custom built Volvo 960 wagon with a supercharged 5L V8 under the hood.  What a cool car and an interesting piece of history!   8)

Love these bricks! Nice purchase!

Yeah, sometimes I feel guilty leaving the e-tron for weeks in some business park. Many places have secured yards though, so it's not that bad. I had two places that took my car inside, washed it and charged it!

Was a great purchase and a heavy-hearted sale  :)
