Pulled the trigger on Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D (non RFT) in an H speed rating mounted on MSW 17" rims....1171.00 landed in Calais.

I think the OEs that are different sometimes use a different pattern for noise reduction.

Or maybe just different so they don't last as long lol

I hate mini spares let alone run flats. Despite having a well that could easily fit a full size spare The G8 had a can of tire sealant and an air pump.?? I think that was GM cheapness or laziness. The first thing I did was add a full size spare. When going remote I typically carry two spares.

People harp on the Ridgeline having a spare in the trunk and the scenario of having a load in the bed. The upside is that a full size fits in the spate well beside the trunk and it is fully protected from the elements unlike the cheesy winch drop systems. The Ridgeline also has a bolt hole in the bed to haul a second spare securely in a vertical position in the bed. Most people don't realize this.

My last Land Rover had a swing out spare carrier in addition to the underside one. The LR4 will be getting this when we start to use it in the bush.

No. I replaced my LR3 with a LR4 about  8 months ago.
The 3 was almost at 209k kms and I found a deal on a cream puff LR4 I couldn't pass up.

OE tires may be constructed a bit different, Ford may want 2 wraps of ply vs 1 for replacement tires,  they may request a bit better rolling resistance compound for CAFE numbers at the expense of traction or longevity, etc.
We used to make Eagle RS-A police car tires, they looked a fair bit different in the sidewall area contours compared to the replacement tires.

Skip the run flats, they suck.   We got a flat on the 5 wagon this summer.  Only got 30 km before the sidewall of the "run flat" blew out and we had to call a tow anyway.   Love the feeling of regular tires on the car and will certainly switch over the winters (currently run flat) when the time comes.

Run flats just don't make any sense to me.  Compromised ride, way more expensive.  I'm completely comfortable with no run flats and no spare.  Worst case I have to fork out 200 for a long tow ride ($130 got us towed 70 km this summer).  Seems like a no brainer when you look at the additional cost of a run flat.

I can see wanting a spare if you're driving to remote places.  But for my family, we're calling a tow truck and not bothering with the hassle.

There's a reason BMW still puts standard performance tires on the M cars.
