So, I wonder how much cost-cutting VW is doing these days.  Rather than install a top tier tire on their newly released midsize CUV, they put Kumho Crugen tires on my Mum's new Atlas.

The only vehicles I've seen with OEM Kumho's have been Korean brands, for which a Korean tire makes sense.

At the very least I would have expected to see Continentals on a VW.

Kumho was also the OEM supplier for the Dodge Viper ACR though.  :P

Anyways, my Mum's new Atlas. 




She Iikes it.  Says it's larger than her Disco Sport (duh), and Interior quality is comparable.

I'll be driving it a bunch when I'm in NB this summer.

i have no experience with Kumho tires, but my Rio5 came with Hankook tires originally and they were actually pretty decent...good grip in all conditions and they seemed to last a decent time...i replaced them last spring with my current tires, the General Tire Altimax RT43, so i got 6 good years out them.

BMW puts Kumho tires on their new vehicles. The X3 also uses the Kumho Crugen.

Might not sound like a top tier brand, but they are definitely wide spread even among the premium car manufacturers.

That is too funny.

Now that I have my all-seasons on, I have been trying to get my forester to slip on in 90 degree turns at 40-50km/h.  The Subaru AWD helps it to power through, though.
