Interesting to see the huge spread between Chevy and GMC sales in the 90’s- early 2000’s. Some are six figures in favour of the Chevy. Now they’re very close to one another. Personally I think the GMC was always the better looking SUV (even if it was just a grill setting the two apart) except for the 07-14 where the Chevy looked much better.

Agreed, the GMC headlights on the 07-14 were hideous. I wonder if the spread has something to do with the dealer network; back then I recall it either being Chevrolet/Cadillac/Olds and GMC/Pontiac/Buick, so there were probably more Chevy dealers.

For those seriously interested specially for the diesel, the new LZO 3.0 liter Duramax introduced in the light trucks for the 2023 model year will replace the existing LM2 3.0 liter Duramax in the SUVs for the 2025 model year. It has more power, more torque and the oil pump belt life has been extended from 240,000 km to 320,000 km. If I was in the market I would wait for the 2025s as all of GM's large SUV triplets are receiving a makeover.

Yeah, I’m looking forward to GM putting the LZ0 in the SUVs. Pretty sure that’s going to be our next vehicle. Been on the build and price a bunch, and Suburban LT with the 3.0 is the sweet spot for me.

Was chatting the other day with the salesman who sold us our ‘07 Suburban. He said he’s sold a bunch of the diesels and everyone loves them. Said he hasn’t had any come back with major issues.

Our Yukon is currently at 296,000 km and still running like a champ. Heading down to Utah at the end of the month, so will be over 300k shortly. I expect we’ll get another 3-5 years out of it, but the temptation to get a new one is strong.

I guess. The diesel upgrade may be nice but it depends on the premium of diesel vs regular along with the usual diesel upkeep. Makeovers scare me since they have become progressively worse since since the early 2000s  ;D

It’s a 3/4 ton right? When the time comes to sell I may be interested. Seems 3/4 tons here in BC are either ex forestry and beat, or ex RCMP and equally beat but for 3X the money, you know, because government owned.

Yeah, 3/4 ton. Will for sure let you know when the time comes.

Bought ours used at a year old and with 20,000 km on it. Think MSRP was $63k back then, and we paid $44k. Those were the days.  :'(

In Canada the ratio was always close to 50:50 IIRC but in the U.S. Chevrolet dealers outnumber GMC dealers nearly 2:1. I suspect GMC's upmarket moves have something to do with it.

This popped up on my Facebook today. A cure for the fugly 2007-14 Yukon front end! For those who don’t know, this is the front end from the 2007-13 GMC Sierra.

^^ That doesn’t look too bad!

I remember when we were shopping in 2007, my wife preferred the Yukon over the Suburban, but I put my foot down: no way I could live with those horrible headlights. She thought the Suburban’s lights looked boring.  ::)

When we needed a new one in 2012, we were shopping used, so couldn’t be too picky. Found a good Yukon, so jumped on it. Yeah, the lights are hideous, but guess I don’t care anymore. Even my wife has come around: she now thinks they’re ugly too.  :rofl2:

Saw that too and I definitely dig it.

A biking buddy of mine picked up a New Silverado Trail Boss with the L70 Diesel.  In the month he's had it, it's been back to the dealer three times for emissions related check engine lights.

On the plus side, on a recent highway trip, he got mid 7's for fuel economy.
