2018 Traverse
« on: October 03, 2017, 02:25:53 pm »
Unfortunately the test drive was rather short, but I can say wow, nice job Chevrolet!  Took out the top model, High Country or something.  Loaded to the nuts.  Same mirror as in the Caddy's with the built in camera for clear wide angle viewing at all times; 9 spd trans; I thought the interior was pretty nice to look at, brown leather and black/piano black accents, comfy seats...switchable 2wd or AWD...nice, anyway.  Drove well enough too and plenty enough power for anybody.  I like it.

Got my $20 coupon and left.  ;D

Nice! I really like the new Traverse. The previous gen was kinda meh while this one is like a FWD based Tahoe.

What's the $20 offer?

Buy a new Traverse and get a $20 coupon!

Recall a AD for a Honda store years ago "free coffee and donut with every vehicle purchase" lol  :rofl2:

One of the Ford stores in Calgary was offering a smart car in the back of a new Super Duty. Ram followed with a Fiat beside a new Ram.

Sweet, spare ride home. Kinda like how I had to carry a spare ride home in my Odyssey with the busted tranny.

Lol that’s what I was actually doing in March when there was still too much frost in the morning to ride to work so I went on noon hour rides instead. But it doubled as a way to get home if the Odyssey lost all gears.

You need a sticker on the side of the Odyssey that says "In case of emergency, open door!"

What's the $20 offer?

Got an email at work from the dealer - $20 coupon to the first 10 people to sign up to drive a Traverse or new Equinox.  I chose the Traverse.  Not going to buy one.  $60 for a Chevy Traverse? Ouch.  Just wanted the $20 - can buy wiper blades or get an oil change and saves $20.  Why not.  It's a 30 second walk across the street and a 10 minute test drive.  I'd have gone for free donuts if they had that too.  ;D

Slightly unrelated, yet still related: I saw a new GMC Terrain pulling out of the carwash yesterday.  That is one good looking vehicle.

It's worlds better than both the outgoing model and the new Equinox.

The Traverse is pretty sharp too, although I can't foresee dropping that kind of coin on a Chev unless it's a Tahoe/Suburban.

Lol my other buddy said I should've got a sticker "Open for escape pod"

Loved the Odyssey but good riddance. My Sienna has been a dream to drive.

The Traverse does start from close to half that! I see offers to test drive all the time but last time I did that, I ended up buying a Mazda 3. Several months later and at another dealer but still. The main reason I didn't buy at that dealer was because they didn't think I was seriously buying a car. Sent them an e-mail of my brand new car a week later.

The Traverse is pretty sharp too, although I can't foresee dropping that kind of coin on a Chev unless it's a Tahoe/Suburban.

Fully loaded Traverse vs. base model Tahoe/Suburban. Mind you the Tahoe/Suburban is equipped with about everything I want base model, but so's the base model Traverse.

The shifter in the Terrain is unique to it too.  5 buttons on the lower center of the dash.

All models w/gas engines come with the 9 sd trans (the diesel gets the 6 spd)...I'm with AB (and GBA), not a bad looking unit.  Much better than the outgoing Kleenex box.

I think the Acadia looks a lot better. The shape of the Terrain is ok, but those headlights and that weird tapered metal inlay above the rear quarter windows are not great. And I hate that rear quarter windows are getting smaller and smaller in these types of vehicles.
