I saw a brand new Ford F -150 Lightning for $3K BELOW MSRP. $12K off Dodge Ram’s at some dealers. 72 Polestar 2 available for immediate delivery in Montreal. Yep, the market is turning.
The fact that F150 Lightning is available, and below MSRP is interesting to me. I have a feeling that thing is going to be a flop; those youtubers who got access to them very early and did some testing with really negative results really did a lot of damage I think. Plus, full-sized pickup truck customer probably the least likely, of all segments, to be interested in EV. So now you've got a pricey new truck that the internet says won't tow and doesn't handle cold well, and a recessionary economy.
^^
Can't be cherry picking certain new vehicles that are hardly mainstream to ascertain prices are leveling off.
The Lightning in Canada is a TOY therefore not representative of anything. The RAM Classics are 14 year old units and RAM is obviously over producing because RAM lots are packed with those things. For main stream vehicles, it's full price and those prices look they are ascending 6% per year and will not stop.
Used car prices got spectacularly out of hand so that should moderate some, but it's still a nasty, nasty, market out there. On April Fool's Day Trudy's MOM tacks on a big eco charge to gas so that's going to drive demand for the wiener mobiles even higher, new and used.
Current large vehicle owners will probably refrain from trading in as routinely so that should keep used inventory low. Together with the fact the large vehicles are still getting sold into the US where it's more affordable to operate those.
