2012 Toronto Auto Show
« on: February 18, 2012, 10:45:40 am »
Is there no coverage by autos.ca this year? If not, what other sites are providing good coverage? I searched the internet and found a few, but with little new information. Perhaps the Detroit show is enough, and it overrides the need to do anything about the Toronto show as there is nothing new.

Some of us don't go to the show for various reasons, but like to be kept up to date with new vehicle premiers and manufacturer announcements, if any. For example, has Hyundai brought the newly revised Genesis Coupe, and have they announced details and pricing for the Canadian market?

Hey Doug,

I think Jonathan will be doing a review of the show but I am not sure.  There were some news items on the show under the news section on this site.

Also, here is my gallery from the show (it is publicly displayed)

Thanks Mike, very nice pics! I see the Genesis Coupe is there along with all the newly announced Elantra variants. I got distracted, however, by the C63 AMG.....  ;D

My cousin luckily won a pair of tickets off a wheels.ca contest - and I got one of them.  ;D

Good pictures Mike, thanks!

I actually get to go to the Toronto show this year, I'm excited.  I'm going to be in Barrie for my Aunt's funeral on Saturday.  I'm going up on Friday to meet up with my cousin and we're going to the show on Friday.  Anyone else going to be there on Friday?

Damn, too bad, tomorrow is a write-off for me.  I planned to go back this week once or twice but not till later in the week.  Have fun though....weekdays rule as the crowds are so much smaller.

That's exactly why we are going tomorrow.

Does Autos.ca need their own booth?

So we're all back home after a day at the CIAS. Ladyleadfoot and BamBam had a great time, except for the pre-nap meltdown at the Volvo booth, perhaps BamBam was sensing my lament of lack of manual tranmissions with my favourite V-brand and wanted to make a scene.

There were a few standouts. Kia has some great colour choices along with sibling Hyundai, I spent much time gawking at the Veloster Turbo and the facelifted/reengined Genesis coupe. BR-Z/FR-S are far better looking in person, I might have to eat my disparaging comments about a lack of sunroof if it drives half as good as it looks. The Q5 caught Ladyleadfoot's attention, as did the LF-A until I told her how much it was.

Failing grades go to Acura for pulling the NSX concept after the weekend, apparently it has another show date; VW and their locked doors on the GTi, GLi and Golf R models, someone forgot to tell the VW folk that a) they are only VW's b) Audi's R8 was there for the sitting just 20 feet away at a higher price than all 3 put together; and last but not least BMW and their pricing sheets which showed "price as displayed" for x dollars but they neglected to include the accessory list, some highly so as in the grey 135i with a whopping $17,000 in dealer adds.

Odd negativity aside, I could sit here all night long going through the stuff I liked. Picked up some Meguiar's product for dirt cheap. Avoided the grossly overpriced food concession stands.

Hi Rich, wondering if you have any opinion on the new dilwari hyundai on hunt club...I just bought a car there 2 days ago but it's not been delivered. Am I in for trouble in the years ahead or are these guys different?
