2022 Montreal Auto Show
« on: November 23, 2021, 08:32:41 am »
Mark your calendars, the Montreal Auto Show for 2022 is a GO!  :bounce:

January 21st to 30th: https://www.salonautomontreal.com/en/

Since age 5, I missed only 3 editions, because of three acts of God: Olympic stadium roof collapse (snow), wife and Covid.

I only went once, in 2014. That trip is likely the biggest reason why I ended up buying a GTI later that year.

Cool, good to see Auto shows coming back and life getting back a some form of normal.  I wonder what vehicle will make it's world debut this time around.

When the news came out about the show being back for 2022, the spokesperson mentioned that about half of the manufacturers may be absent. Still, the Montreal show is organized by the Greater Montreal Auto Dealers association, so sometimes the dealers provide product if the manufacturers can't.

In 2020 my 2-doors down neighbour (Ford dealer) was President of the show, he should be able to give me a heads-up on what will be there.

Any word on the Toronto show?
I love it when a plan comes together.

I think the car I would be most interested in seeing at the show would be the Lotus Emira.  Word is that a production model should be making the rounds at dealers in the near future, so maybe they will take the opportunity to bring one to the Montreal Auto Show.

Would make sense, and we're a good market for that.

And there is a local dealer, I think the biggest Lotus dealer in Canada.  So fingers crossed it shows up.  I know there are a lot of people waiting to see it in the flesh.

Your dealers have enough stock to put some cars in the show? Most of the dealers around here only have slim pickings.

Hate to say it, but Montreal - and all shows that choose to try and make a go of it next year - will be pretty sad. A lot of OEMs (including all the Germans) have decided to sit this year out. Dealers cannot typically afford to support a Tier-1 show without OEM support, and as noted already in this thread, inventory is very hard to come by these days.

Anyone going to the Montreal car show this coming week?  The new Lotus Emira will be there, worth the price of admission if you ask me.

I'll be there for the opening on Friday morning! Heading to a ToyoLexus launch event in a few minutes! Lexus RZ & Prius Prime according to the invite.

You’ll have to tell me what you think of the Emira in person.
