Congratulations!

Looks good! We're still batting around the idea of trying out a QX50

Sharp looking vehicle. Congrats!

So, this is the replacement for a 14yo Escape? Nice upgrade - no wonder she's thrilled.

Ha, ha, no, Mrs. Railton traded her Fx37 in on the QX60. The Escape was our 3rd vehicle.

Looks beautiful.  Wish your wife many years of happy motoring.
Did you try to get a free roof box like the one in the pic?

Yes, we did try to get it thrown in but no dice. They would give us 15% off though - I think it was around $600. You can rent them though around town for ~$50/week. We don''t really have a use for one and this vehicle is not short on luggage space anyways.
After seeing that box though mounted on the QX60 I told Mrs. Railton that maybe instead of dealing the FX37 we should've just bought one of the roof boxes but, she wasn't buying it.

So we were at the In-laws in Quebec City for a few days – we decided to take the dog this trip so we all jumped in the QX60 and headed East. Our first long trip with it since new this Summer.
Lots of room for 3 suitcases, Christmas parcels and the dogs bag of food in the back with the 3rd row down. Really, this SUV hauls a lot of stuff and long stuff as well with the 60/40 2nd row seat down as well. I spent some time in the back seat on the way back and dug the reclining seat, rear seat heathers and pano roof. Certainly lots of room for me and the dog.
Driving to Quebec the ride was very comfortable even after 9 hours in the seat and with my back which goes to the Chiropractor every other week. I was really impressed with how quiet it was cruising on the highway at 120. The tach needle was reading 1750 on the flat and level at that speed. No issues with the transmission…uh…CVT.
Once we got to Quebec City we parked the car outside on the street and left it untouched for 4 days. When we left I started it with the iphone application from inside the house and it started right up at -26. I like how the seat heaters, defrost, and steering wheel heater all come on when you start the car remotely. When you are fueling up at the station and washing the windows you need to remember to clean off all the little cameras in the Winter from time to time to make sure the 360 degree camera system works. That’s also a great feature to have in the car.
So far so good.

Nissan and Infiniti do their seats right.
FWIW, I personally had no issues with driving my MDX for 10 hours straight to Chicago, with a chronic bad back and vibrations from unbalanced wheel.

That’s a long drive and the weather can be very challenging at this time of year. Good to hear that the car is acquitting itself so well. What type of winter tires do you have on it?

That kind of long road trip will really show up a car's weaknesses.....glad it's working out for you!
