Yeah, so, so much want - especially now that I'm well-situated in one city.

^No-san, break out that wallet & spend some of that lawyer cash you're earning!!!!

These cars are something else!! I was chasing one around the track at Calabogie this summer & the cornering speeds he was achieving was amazing!! Lost sight of him after about 4 corners  :o

Yeah I'm still in love with mine.  I'm averaging a bit better fuel economy than the tester, which is strange considering I do mostly city driving and mine is a manual.

No-San, if you ever get the chance to drive one I'm pretty sure you'll find a way to justify buying one.  It really is a great all around vehicle for a car enthusiast, practical when you need it, fast when you crave it, and comfy when you are road tripping.

2018s are on the lots now.  Can get them in some pretty funky colors.

Fun colors are a $3,000 option and you won't find many on lots that aren't ordered by a customer.  I do think it's a great option for someone who really wants a different color, and it sure can make a difference in the appearance.

Love the R.  Don't love the reliability.

Only complaint is that those new rims are horrible. The normal ones like on the one in the article are perfect.

The ones in the article are the new standard wheels, and the ones on the green one are optional.

The '17s are pretty much sold out at this point I think, and the '18s are on the lots. They're a bit more expensive but now have the 7 speed DSG, virtual cockpit, improved infotainment, and some minor styling differences.

I would have seriously considered an R if you could get one with a sunroof. The new colours are sweet but if you're leasing they have zero residual value so it really only makes sense if you're buying. Would love one in green or purple or orange.

Wow - with all this car has to offer, a sunroof is a deal-breaker for you?  I've never been that enamored with a glass porthole over my head.  I mean, just about every car I have owned has had one, but until the full pano roof on my current car, it's never been a feature I really cared much about.  Much less being the single reason I would pass on a performance hatch.

Pretty great package.   Would likely be my default choice if shopping in the low $40k new car realm.   Much more appealing to me than a comparable A3 or CLA.

Agreed.  I credit VW for offering something "different" but I rarely like their rim designs.   The standard ones, in article, are nice yes.

Love that they're offering interesting colours, even with a cost.

Yep. I love sunroofs, I drive with them open as much as possible (down into single digit temperatures). Unless I'm looking at a hardcore performance car (something like an M2 or a Cayman), it's a must have for me.

never drove one yet but couple of friends switched their Subaru sti for R and love them.

both did complain on limited colour selections when they purchased cause most Ottawa dealers were already sold out.

great cars and still reasonable in price considering all what you get.

+1 same here. Golf R for me is a non-starter for that reason. Here in Rain City a glass sunroof is really nice to have to let the light in on those gray days.

Are we offering sharezies of the MX-5 and a Golf-R?  Hmm, sounding like a time-share.  I love it!  ;D

Yikes! Never heard of that before. Goes to show though, you can get more visceral thrills with a sunroof than a convertible  ;)

i'm with Jaeger here regarding the sunroof...my Rio5 has it and i never use it (in terms of open air)...once in a while, i'll slide the cover back to let the light in, but i usually prefer it closed...the top trim car has it, so i have it, but if it were an optional feature, i'd pass.

Yep...IQ too. Loves it.

Sunroof is always open....would be a deal breaker for her too.
