not sure i could go with a 2 stroke again...my last one was sometimes troublesome to start (wasn't electric) and the smell gets old fast.
I could!

And with a high quality synthetic, much less smoke and smell.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I thought it was the 2-stroke oil burning that smelled until I got a 4 stroke carburetor scooter and it still stunk. It's all the excess unburned gasoline to prevent the engine from running lean and hot that's the problem.

KTM released a pair of fuel injected 2 stroke dirt bikes that might be the answer.

yea, but you're from Windsor...you're used to the smell.  :P

Depending on what you use, there's little smell with a quality synthetic. I was shocked at the difference. One synthetic brand that did have somewhat of an aroma..that I liked..was Silkolene Pro 2. Mmm mmm.

Recently, I switched to synthetic on my trimmer. No smoke, no smell. Pretty amazing actually.

i recently switched out my gas trimmer and lawn mower to cordless models...i'm actually impressed with how well they work (for a regular sized urban lot)...no gas, no oil changes, no spark plugs, no air filters, less noise, lighter weight...they've come down in price lately too, which helps.

Yeah but you can't go braaaaap, braaaaaaaap, braaaap anymore.  ;D 2 stroke FTW. A good synthetic smells nice. I miss it on my current 4st thumper. Sometimes I like to get in tight behind a 2st and get a good long whiff. :lick:

The previous owner left a corded lawn mower and I've been impressed with how it's performed. No stalling at a big patch of grass! My wife likes how quiet it is. Would love to go battery powered, the cord is kinda annoying.

i was eyeing them for a few years, and when the 80V system went on sale earlier this year, i bought one...they were $699 plus taxes (13% here), so basically $790...it went on sale for $549 no tax, so a pretty substantial discount...i'm sure over time, they will continue to come down in price (and likely improve)...but it does work quite well...i sold my old lawnmower for $200, so my cost to upgrade was really only $350.

The only mowers I'd be interested in if I were ever to buy a new one (have a small JD rider) would be a robot mower.

i've seen those, but i can't imagine they are any good (they look like frisbees that roam around your yard).

A Frisbee?  These things aren't roomba sized.  They're rather large...bigger than a small pushmower.  At least the ones I saw at a home show (Huskvarna and I believe the other was called RoboMow or something).

I think most manufacturers are getting into the robot mower game.

I was keen until I saw this: https://slavensracing.com/shop/slavens-mule-get-ecu-ktm-hqv-250-300tpi/

Is it true you need to spend another US$900 to get them to run properly?

No, it's not true.

I've read multiple reviews and all are positive.

And I'm guessing bikes for NA will have different maps anyways.

Yeah, I’ve read all the glowing reviews as well. Just wondering if real-world use is starting to reveal some warts.

Give them a few model years to deal with the issues.

the ones i've seen are like this:

https://www.lowes.ca/lawn-mowers/worx-landroid-28-volt-max-cordless-electric-robotic-lawn-mower_13174812.html?af=3632&cse=3632&gclid=CjwKCAjwwo7cBRBwEiwAMEoXPA146p3ZHlQNl-LYZ0hqHa0jMYUeRaKMUjSNUKTGdRiNKvhUVK2GOBoCtUgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

but $1400 is pretty steep...i can cut my lawn in 20 minutes anyway, so i wouldn't get much value there...spending the money on the cordless was already a tough sell, but did mostly for convenience, with a bit of green as a bonus.
