I liked my '01 Cherokee better :P.  Not sure about the front end.  Front end styling has turned me off a number of recent Jeeps - including the outgoing Liberty.

As bad as the front end styling is, the back is worse... So weird with the very high black plastic bumper, although I imagine that practically, it's probably cheaper to replace.

Obviously... since it is a Jeep creation not sure how other competitive models could wear this badge...

I find strange the Cherokee is called a mid-size (or that Jeep wants 2 models to compete with each other). The new Cherokee has more technology content than Jeep's mother-ship and should be  priced lower than Grand Cherokees...

Hopefully for Jeep customers won't remember too much the Pontiac Aztek when they look at that nose or butt!

The current model is perfect and is one of the best in the styling department IMO. The 2014 is just wacked.  :P

I thought the Cherokee was discontinued years ago? Do you mean the Liberty,Patriot or Compass? (I can't keep them straight)  This is a different/new model and not a variation of a Grand Cherokee right?

I'm assuming it's intended to play in the CR-V, Forester, Rav4 segment. Is that right?

 ??? This ins not the new GC...good then and I am in error  :fall:  :) . The current GC is awesome, don't fack with it.

I saw pics from the NY Auto Show, but never saw the rear till today.  Jeep is going to have the same problem that GM had with the Avalanche, the plastic on the bumper, it fades after awhile, and looks like crap.

I have to say I like the powertrains.  Not sure about the 9 speed auto, guess it's one of those wait and see kinda things.  Wonder if this can tow 3500lbs? 

So Dodge has the Dart problem, and Jeep will have the Cherokee problem.  We can look at in 3 years, so how a mid cycle refresh changes the front and rear bumpers.....

Hell yeah, this.....thing should have not been branded a Cherokee. I know Chrysler loves ruining names from the past.....but come on, one of your best selling lines?!?!?!!? This ugly, fwd, CUV thing doesnt deserve a Cherokee badge.  :hurl: Cherokees come in two flavours:

SJ 1974-1983




XJ 1984-2001

Sounds like it could be a good vehicle (at least from a mechanical POV...I like the idea of that V6  ;D)

The looks are a bit polarizing to say the least but it may turn out to be better in the flesh.  :-\

yup... took me a while to figure this out too.
there is the existing GRAND Cherokee which is the top end Jeep, but i think bringing this out to replace the Liberty and calling it a Cherokee (without the GRAND) will really confuse people.

as everyone else has said... it sure it ugly!!!
