If you can swing it having multiples of each item allows smooth transitions. A couple of pairs of active boots are a godsend.

But quadruples and quintuples might be viewed by others as excessive.  Ask me how I know.  :rofl2:

Nah you are just making them last longer by having quintuples.

Yeah, that's it exactly.  :)

I took the savage beast out for a maniacal rip.....

Okay... the savage and maniacal parts may not be entirely accurate.  ;D

Wife has had all of one ride so far this season - combo of new job / insanely busy / crappy spring weather.

Basically, I needed to burn off the winter gas.  Problem - I'm not convinced this thing actually burns gas.  :rofl2:  More like it just runs on the mere scent of gasoline in the tank.  Tiny tank that takes forever to reach empty.  But with good riding roads nearby and enough time on my hands, I got it down to an eigth of a tank.  Eventually.  And grinning the whole time.  It's what this bike does.

There was a demo day and I took advantage to try out some Can Am three wheels. A Spyder and Ryker 900. The Spyder was $40K (!!) and was like a big comfy couch down the road. The Ryker was quite zippy and fun. Took a minute to adapt to three wheels. Felt a little unsteady at first. I ran over a (already) dead rabbit on the highway as its hard to avoid road obstacles. I am very happy to give them a try but no tempting to buy one.

I have heard them described as all the disadvantages of a car combined with all the disadvantages of a motorcycle.

Took the old girl out for a few days of camping and lower elevation riding. It will be a couple months before those ridges in the background are rideable.

I think someone with a closed mind would say that.

I too tried one on a demo day. It thought it was fun and easy to ride and can see why so many people like these things.

Complaints were you can't avoid obstacles easily. Can't dodge them like a bike and can't go over them like a car. One of the wheels are going to hit.  But the critics must be wrong since Can Am sells huge amounts.  :rofl2:

I guess it depends what the "objects" are.

I've hit birds, rabbits squirrels and cats on a bike and didn't fall....I'd presume the same on a 3 wheeler.

Critics are definitely wrong as you point out. They sell and I see many! These things sell so well that it forced Harley to start making 3 wheelers as some of their riders tired of balancing their heavy bikes moved to Can-Am.

People love these things.

Well I'll concede  a few people love these things..

I was thinking discarded mufflers, potholes etc., in a three wheeler you are just hitting them. It's interesting they are classified as a car and you you don't need a motorcycle licence to drive these things. That might make sense as the one I tried eons ago was more like steering a sled. With a CVT and auto 3 wheel braking it's close to car than bike.   I do know they are no allowed in motorcycle parking spots as they take up too much room.  I just came through the interior of BC which is the mecca of motorcycle touring out west. I saw lots and lots and lots of bikes, even a couple sidecars but I don't think I saw a Can Am this time. Maybe they are more popular out east? Outside of the ridiculous Harley trikes (worse than a Can Am?) are you sure other manufacturers are rushing to make three wheelers? Yamaha? Honda? BMW?

I definitely didn't say that. Harley customers (predominantly older riders and women) were leaving HD for Can-Am...which is what prompted HD to get into trikes.

But they sell. It only took a decade to have sold a million units globally....which is extremely impressive considering this was before the more affordable Ryker.

Yea, they aren't for us...but there's no denying their popularity. There's even a yearly "Spyderfest".

I suspect if they were as terrible as you/critics think they are, they wouldn't be as popular as they are.

I definitely had a smile on my face when I was done my test drive. But I preferred (by far) the 900.

Some Suzuki demo days coming up.  Unfortunately there are no dealers in Kingston, I might have to go to Belleville to try them.

CAR and driver made the review.  ;D  Just like quads 3 wheel cars are not appealing to me as the handling is shite. The meat bag sitting on top providing a high CG with no ability to lean it. Only way to steer is to wrestle the bars into a turn. If riders truly don't have the strength to balance a bike do they have the ability to wrestle the bars on these things? Perhaps a better solution would be to lose some rider weight and buy  less of a pig of a bike or get that nice KIA Rio with power steering.  But then again manufacturers wouldn't be able to sell you a "solution".
