NHL 2024
« on: October 10, 2023, 10:16:31 am »
Puck drop tonight!

-Jets locking in Hellebuyck and Scheifele.  Maybe they notice they would not get that money from other teams.. They at least secured one of the best goalies in the league long term.
-Flames looks good and seams like the mentality changed now that Suter is gone.  Backlund having the "C" should have been done couple years ago.
-EDM,Leafs, VAn....meh who care  ;D.  although it made sense naming Hughes captain, the guy is amazing

-MTL  will be existing to watch, they will be a mess for a while though, the back end needs structure.
-Ottawa will probably make the playoffs.

The league can't hype Bedard enough, we almost have a live stream of him sleeping and his breakfast routine by now.   ;D

Players to watch (IMO):
-Cooley in  ARI.  IMO he might take the Calder.  the kid is unreal
-Johnston in DAL.   this is the second year and this kids will be a top center for sure, super underrated playmaking abilities
-Guhle in MTL.  He is already one of the top/fastest skater in the league, he just needs to mature and stay healthy
-Bedard of course
-Karlsson in PIT.... I have no clue what will happen over there.
-Dahlin  Norris season?

What are you watching this year?

Canucks crush  the Oil 8-1. ;D  Boeser scored 4 goals, but Pettersson looked fantastic.

Man, would love to throw barbs at Oilers fans, but my Leafs had to go to a shootout to beat the lowly Habs... guess they still won though & scored more than 1 goal :stick:

Well, Kirby Dach is out for the season with torn ACL & MCL with a hit 4 minutes into the second game.  Massive blow for the Canadiens as he is clearly their #1 player IMO.

It will be the same as last year. ;D  Nothing but injuries. That Minnesota game was a disaster . Deja Vu.

I'm listening to the Coyotes at Sabres tonight.

Coyotes are 13-11-2, while the Sabres are 11-14-3.

Karel Vejmelka gets the start in the Coyotes goal as Connor Ingram needs a break.

From winning five in a row to losing three in a row.  5-2 was the final.

What's with those guys anyway, the first part of the season they could not win for anything.

Now it's 13 in a row, Canadian team record

It's time to fire the GM. Cheveldayoff has been building clunkers for thirteen seasons; it's time to get rid of him.

Ya its really too bad.  After they won game 1 I thought maybe they had a chance to knock off the Avs.

Vancouver had a fantastic comeback win yesterday.  Without Demko though, I don't have much faith in them making it past round 2, which looks like it'll be against the Oilers.  They were using their 3rd string tendy yesterday.  Geez.  And they looked terrible in game 3 also, but also won.  Pretty disheartening after the season they had.  There's so many good playoff teams this year.

I just think playoff Avs are just too strong. Top talent with top minutes, they are too hard to contain.

The  3rd Goalie is from Latvia,  played a total of 9 NHL games in the last 2 years before getting the call this playoff run.  He must have called everyone he knows   ;D

Ha ha, no kidding.  He did play some recent games with the Canucks right before the playoffs when Demko was injured and didn't look great.  But ya, he was a star for the Latvia team.

They said Demko could be back for round 2. I secretly hope he's not but the Oilers have been stonewalled by supposedly weak goalies before so it doesn't matter who's in net.

I read it may be torn ACL, so who knows.  Your wish may come true. Hopefully either Desmith or Silvos can make an Adin Hill like performance.

Man what a game last night, holding on to a 1 goal lead for damn near 60 minutes was quite the performance. Lets hope Wednesday brings a few more pucks in the back of the net.
