I always wanted to start something like this, but I thought most of the regulars weren't golfers.

Started 9 years ago and have been hooked ever since.  I probably played 30 rounds per year on average.

Lately, I've been using underpar to take a random day off during the week so I can play two rounds for ~$50.  The deal can't be beat if you can get two rounds in and not get too tired to the point that you lose concentration after 27 holes.

The key for me in not ruining the second 9 is staying hydrated and not being too concerned about the score from the first nine.
I've shot 84 last year at Osprey Valley (Hoot) and it was a sweet feeling after the round as I wasn't even trying to shot the lowest ever score.

Another notable memory for me is a hole-out from 90 yards for an eagle. That was my fourth eagle in 8 years of playing, but haven't had an ace yet.

If you haven't tried Osprey Valley in Caledon, ON, definitely give it a try when you're in the area next time.
Osprey is 10mins from my parent's place, though I've never played there when I'm down visiting, but my cousin plays there quite often. I usually play Mayfield when I'm down there, my buddy's family owns that course & he's the pro there.

When I was a youth, I was a good golfer and golfed in a few youth tournaments. I quit entirely after performing poorly. I took the game back up a couple of years ago. I'm now quite terrible..and I wonder how good I'd be if I continued.

I was a caddy here every day in the summer. They've hosted PGA and LPGA events in the past. The big bonus was we could golf the course (or use the pool) on Tuesdays.

Love that course.  Haven't played it in years, but have played maybe 5 or 6 rounds there.

Damn, dude - I only wish I could golf that cheap.  One thing I definitely don't miss about playing 20 plus rounds per year is the green fees.

Well it's only a par 3.

Regular courses here are bonkers though. Which is why we typically golf in the USA.

For example, this Arnold Palmer signature Gold course we regularly golf for $25 per round..with cart. Crazy beautiful courses, crazy cheap. Half dozen beers $5-$6. We use the Golf Now app for pricing.

Ah, okay.  We have a pretty nice "executive" course by us here - 9 holes, but a mix of par 3, 4, and 5 - kind of like half of a regular (shortish) course.  Nice way to shake off the rust.

I've golfed quite a bit in Orlando - waaaaaay cheaper than up here.

Yeah golf down south is so much better.. I haven't had the chance to play in the US yet.
About Osprey, I played all 54 holes in a day last year. I could have easily got through 72 holes if there wasn't a frost delay in the morning. I love that course but I live too far from it. And its green fee is pretty pricey.

I pay $250 for a membership & it gives me a discounted rate at a list of courses. Basically after 10 rounds I break even & then afterwards I'm saving cash. Playing this Saturday & my round is $44 with a cart. My round this past Monday was $33 walking.

Played like sh!t today, 53 over 9 holes... too many triples!!

Last week I shot 46 on the same 9 holes. I'll blame the 40km/hr wind gusts, lol!

Got out this morning early for 18 holes, only 13ºC out to start & gusts of 35km/hr, but had an awesome round (for me), shot an 89 (49 on the front & 40 on the back). First time breaking 90 this season (and possibly last as well), so I was pretty stoked! Back nine plays 35, and I managed 6 pars, 2 doubles & 1 single for 5 over. Front 9 was a mixed bag, 1 par, 2 doubles, a quad & then the rest bogies.

Have been putting in some work on a "new" swing (to me). A single plane swing similar to Moe Norman and closer to what Bryson DeChambeau uses. He won the Memorial today.

The grip feels odd, the set up feels more odd. But gosh darn..I'm hitting it straighter than I ever have with minimal effort and with only a little time (so far) with the new swing. Almost no mishits and no distance penalty which is most impressive. I'm starting to think this might be the easiest swing to master for the average golfer.

If this early success continues through the year, I may even consider the ultimate switch next year...a set of single length clubs which is supposed to enhance this type of swing even more.

I'm happy...and hopeful.

^A buddy of mine uses a swing like that & it's pretty darn consistent for him. He plays just under bogie golf most of the time... unless he gets into a few beers, then all bets are off, lol!

Got a few rounds booked over the next few days  ;D  Saturday doing 9 & dine with the GF & another couple, Sunday morning doing 18 with 3 buddies and then Monday after work is 9 holes of league play  ;D

Played in a charity tournament this past Monday, it was miserable, pouring rain a couple of times, but we managed to make the best of it  ::)

Shouldn't the golf thread just be a child-thread of the 'beer thread'?

Playing tomorrow morning. I rarely play weekend golf because I hate long rounds, but my friend's wife and baby is out of town and he only plays on weekends.
At least the weather looks amazing.

I play all the time on weekends. Usually first tee time of the day or twilight hours (after 4, it's usually dead).

Yeah I like the morning tee times except for the premium on green fees.
I am usually doing family stuff in the afternoon/evening so twilight golf is no longer a reality for a while.
