We haven't had an out of warranty car for some time so it's really a non-issue for me. Although, I did buy my daughter a membership for her 08 Rogue in August....guess I should have waited a couple of months, :(

When my trucks alternator packed it in on a busy road on a beautiful, warm spring day last year and they told me it was gonna be a 4 hour wait, I cancelled my membership on the spot. I called around and within the hour I was on the hook of another tow company. I dont know, for a boost, call a freind/neighbour.
Lighten up Francis.....

If you are renewing talk to Bill he can get you the same or similar deal.

Where I see the service as being worthwhile is when you need a tow.  If all you need is a boat most likely you can find someone to stop and help.

I have two out of warranty cars now and a truck that likes to randomly explode so I signed up for the rv package

If you use CAA just for towing, then you are not taking full advantage of the membership. I have my car and home insurance through them. Use their travel service. They have matched any deal I have found on Expidia etc. and often bettered a deal. Buy movie tickets for very cheap. Discounts at other retailers. Pre-purchase "city passes" for cities like NYC etc. I more then triple the the cost in savings a year. I don't drive a Chrysler, Ford, GM or a FGC, so I have no need for the towing service.

We have had their home insurance for nearly 30 years and it is very good in coverage and service.
Their car insurance was good as well but in the late '90s they developed a hate for VW GTIs in the downtown territory.  I get a new quote from theme every year but they are still expensive on FGCs even in peaceful Guelph.

We have had their home insurance for as long as we needed it, 20+ years but this year we will be changing as they are 25% higher than a quote we got, with less coverage.  its been a a big surprise this year for that.

If you are renewing talk to Bill he can get you the same or similar deal.

this work for BCAA as well?

Is CAA even necessary these days? Without paying for it directly, I already have 3 road-side assistance on my car (through insurance, through Hyundai and through the NAPA mechanic) and 2 road-side assistance on my Sportage (insurance & NAPA mechanic). What else do you get with your CAA membership? $100 a year seems awfully expensive for road-side assistance, there has to be more, no?

I don't have road side assistance.  Sure if you have a new car you do but otherwise you do not.  Also CAA covers the person not the car.  So any vehicle you are in is covered.  Even your buddy who decided to drive you and his car broke.

I suggest you contact your insurance company... ours covers both our vehicles as we have home and car insurance with them. Also, as I said before, I get road-side assistance for both my vehicles as my mechanic is affiliated with NAPA. So yeah, I don't need CAA.

NO he won't, and I quote " This is an up-front new membership discount.  As an existing CAA member, you receive a standard discounted renewal rate. "
