Would you ever consider a Mini Countryman with a manual?  If I remember they did make those, would certainly be enough space for 4 adults and luggage.  Just trying to think outside the box.  Maybe something like this?

I think those might be a bit more pricy and you have had one before, so just thinking maybe try something a bit different.

This sounds pretty bad (perforation). Was the car in accident/repaired? The ones I see around here, even pre-LCI (2006-2008) are pretty clean. I'm yet to see one with visible body rust, mind you perforation.

I've seen some but I don't think it's too common.

Yeah I'm surprised to hear about visible body rust on an E9x. Plenty of clapped ones around here with blown shocks, general disarray, and leaks, but I don't think I've personally ever seen one with fender/door/hatch/trunk rust. Any chance you're willing to share some photos of it?

How about a manual Clubman S? They're pretty reliable, a BIT cooler than the Countryman, and decently reliable/averse to rust.

That driver side front fender is obviously the worst.

There is a salvage yard in Moncton (under two hours away) that has a 2012 E91 and I wonder if it would be worth just pulling the fenders and possibly hatch off of that one? Maybe even the hood since mine has a bunch of dings. https://kennyupull.com/part/bmw-328-2012-kup-moncton-833385/

I test drove one before I had my JCW. They are ok but kind of slow given how small they are. I'm okay with the size if it's a good drive but at that point I'd rather have a GTI I think.

Something like this 2019 330i wagon would work well though. This one has higher KMs but is well optioned. Not sure if it coms with the OE wheels though. Interior looks like it might be a bit banged up too. But the price isn't awful.

Not a bad idea, cheaper than the rust repairs I'd imagine.

That's what we do! I have a spare door and fender for IQs car.
