Snowing here, again.

While I was in the mountains, the snow was appreciated.  In the city, not so much.

Temperature hit 14 degrees C. here on the Island over the last three days.  I'm seeing cyclists wearing shorts.  :o

Yeah, I've been in shorts a few times in the past few weeks.  Not that it's been "balmy", but definitely warm enough to not be chilled when running errands after leaving the gym without changing first.

Checked the long-term forecast and booked a tire change for April 12th about when the temp returns to near-normal.

Back to winter for the last few days in Montreal too.  We've had highs of -10 to -7 with windchills down to -17 in the daytime.  Nights have been around -12 or colder.

BUT, it is looking up for the first week of spring:

We head to Hawaii April 3.  My guess is I'll switch the Forester's tires before we leave, but I'll leave the winters on the Mazda since we'll be driving it to/from the airport and it's worth the extra 'safety' factor.  Currently, they're calling for 5-10cm of snow April 1st (maybe it's a joke?  :P).

The best part of doing my own changeovers is I don't have to book an appointment ;D

Do people really look at the weather more than 3 days in advance?  It's useless.  If "they" were accurate, we would have an extra 50cm of snow this year.  We won't have snow that stays on the driveway in April.

Still looks like full on winter here.  Another storm is expected later this week.

And temperatures are reliably below zero in the mornings and evenings.  My windshield was completed frosted over this morning.  I could safely have gotten to work on the 3-season tires given the bare, cold roads and commuting route (i.e. not "mountain twisties"), but the winter tires are still the correct ones to have affixed, even in Southern Ontario, for a little while longer.

I've been following Edmonton temperatures closely to see if I can trailer my motorcycle there on Easter long weekend. Not looking hopeful. Would've been nice but not a deal breaker.

I have an upcoming oil change in the next week or two.  Would have the summer tires put on, but with some crap in the garage to get ready for the move, to hard to access.  I will do after the move (may 31).  Oh well...

This winter is just dragging on and on.  We still have plenty of solid snow cover on the ground here.

I'll do my tire changeover in early April, as that is when I'll be installing the airbags on the van, so the rear wheels need to come off anyway for that.

I usually swap the tires on the Corolla mid to end of April and end of May on the Highlander.   I'm still skiing into early June and the mountains can bite you hard right through May, so having winter tires on is a good idea.

Yup - this winter has at least seemed like the worst one in a really long time. Lots of melt a little bit then get cold and snow on top of the ice cycles.

Yesterday, the long range forecast for Wednesday was sunny and 11C.  Today, the forecast is cloudy and 5C.  Arrggh.  Spring can't come quick enough, just chomping at the bit to get the S2000 and MR2 out of storage.  :(
