Genesis has a different approach to the Canadian market with this one. It only comes one way: flat-out loaded, with the top-dog engine and awd. Go big or go home.

4 massaging seats? Check.
23-speaker 1,300+ watts B&O sound system? Check.
4 power-open and power-close doors? Check.
3 choices of olfactory moods for the HVAC? Check.
Boss man reclining right rear seat with footrest? Check.
Full-control rear-mounted touch screen that mirrors the front controls? Check.
409 hp? Check.
21" wheels? Check.

Yup, felt like a boss in that one.

Only thing we don't get is the SKDM long-wheelbase version. This is the swb...

Genesis does design like no one else. Every exterior colour gets its own interior scheme. And every model gets its own, exquisite wheel design.

Did you feel like there wasn't enough room in the back?

One stunning design element is the mega-hood. Designers sweated out the details so there would be no visible seam, resulting in a humongus stamping. It starts at the windshield's base, waterfalls on the side to the wheel wells and turn signal "blades" and hovers over the massive grille. Standing in front of the car its width is massive.

The swb is not an issue as you can see here. Plenty of room in this uber long cabin, and the rear backrests also recline. Everything that moves is electric. Including the front headrests. Seriously. The only downside to the swb is that the front right seat has to be folded forward to use the rear footrest.

I'm not absolutely sold on Genesis styling. I think the crossovers are generally better looking than the sedans.

There's some really great details here, but the overall look leaves me a bit cold.

Probably the heaviest and most expensive rear center armrest I've ever seen:

I feel exactly the opposite.  I really dig the cars but not so much the CUV's.

Unlike the direction ze Germans are taking, Genesis packages all the tech in an old-school cocoon of warm, sumptuous materials. The instrument screen clashed though, looking to have been pulled from a corporate parts-bin. Knurled shifter is exquisite.

The main drawback from the G90's short tail design is its very small trunk. The underfloor area is occupied by a massive-for-a-MHEV 9.8 kWh Li-ion battery. It's impeccably finished, of course, and has a powered open/close lid, of course, but there's barely more than 10 cu.ft. in here. That's a lot less than a Corolla offers. The room reserved for the reclining seatbacks is partly to blame, but styling is the real reason.

At the business end lies Genesis' biggest powerhouse, a twin-turbo 3.5 L V6 with an electric supercharger. The MHEV system is designed for all-day torque, the large battery ensuring the supercharger is always ready to spool up. 409 hp and 405 lb-ft going through a in-house 8-speed automatic. Like that CEO in the upper corner office, it is powerful, authoritive yet smooth.

Air bag suspension is a treat on our bad roads, despite the thin-walled 21" snow tires. Big dips that create bucking in lesser cars are just dealt with. Like firing 10 staffers at once with a flick of your hand. Corners flat like a locomotive too.

The powered door handles are as stupid here as they are in all other applications. I blame Musk. During April's ice storm, at the end of the day unlocking the car - by walking near it - had varied results. Both front handles powered through the ice. This one in the rear stopped halfway, and the last one did not budge at all.

Having powered doors all around required me to educate all passengers, as they are quite heavy to use manually. Touching the little "lock" square when the handle is out closes the door, as does using the interior buttons. And the car tried to snap my left leg off a few times; eventually, you learn that by pushing the brake pedal the car will close the driver's door, even if your leg is there.

It makes an entrance like few cars do. It had been awhile since so many heads swivelled in my wake.

At the end of the day the G90 is a relative bargain. For $115k all in, it undercuts all of its competition, except the A8 L, but load up the options to match the content and it quickly becomes the value leader of the segment. You can even buy three for the price of one Rolls-Royce Ghost, the other sedan that offers power doors standard.

I disagree with both of you - I think the sedans and SUVs both look great.  ;D
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.
