Winter Tires
« on: October 22, 2017, 10:12:45 am »
4 winter tires all at 100 percent for my Honda Civic 205/55/16
3 Winter Slalom Goodrich. 1 G52. These came with the vehicle when I purchased it used.

Can I use all 4 - suggest the G52 on the front or back?
Feedback has been mixed but most people I've talked to say it' snot that big a deal.

Advice?

I know all your tires should be the same. Is the "G52" another winter model of Goodrich? Does tread pattern look close? if i used them I definitely put the odd ball one on the front.

I think G52 is from Yokohama. Ice guard iG52c.
Wouldn't you want the fronts to be the same since they will need more traction when stopping?

I've always been told "best on the back".....you don't want the back breaking free when braking or cornering. That's also why you should never put just two winter tires on a FWD car. If I was going to go with one oddball winter tire (and I'm not sure that's a good idea at all) it would go on the front.

OP should go to a tire installer and see what they say.

^ This.

...and no, you should never have different branded tires on the same car - most notably, the tread depths should be similar on all 4 tires, but equivalent at least in the pairs (front/back).  If the tread pattern is different, and your car has ABS (which it does), then I could see the different tread pattern being problematic even if you don't notice it.

I think you should start a thread with the exact same topic thread as another.

What if the OP doesn't want to?
