How much do you value colour?!  Hell, when looking at Mazda's website, I am wholly unwilling to spend the $300 for the white pearl :P  $3,000?  Never.  That's a hard

^ If I was buying and keeping for the long term I'd gladly spend the $3k. But colour is very important to me.

Same here, I'd drop the $3k on a colour I wanted as well.  And I totally applaud VW for offering that many colours on the R..........wish more manufacturers did this.

Agreed.

Its an intriguing addition. A complete reversal of how they did things in the past. For example, remember how many years the GTi was only offered in Black, Almost Black, White and Red? I remember because two of my new car purchases came and went without them getting my sale, largely because of this.

Even in 2015 the GTI was only offered in four colours in Canada. Since then they've added silver and blue. Wasn't an issue for me because I wanted red anyways, but it certainly factored into me not replacing my red one with another GTI because I wasn't interested in any of the other colours and I didn't want to drive the exact same car again.

While I care about the color on my cars and I would pay a fee to get the color I want, $3K is way too much... I paid few hundred bucks in the past, but few grand is too rich for my tolerance level....
Heck, even some luxury brands charge less for premium paint/color... Sure there are some crazy numbers out there, but on $100K+ cars not $40K cars.

I think those bright (otherwise nice) colors will be very, very exclusive.

They have 5 or 6 colors that are included.  One of the white shades is $450 more.  These custom colors are one offs, where a car goes and gets the special paint at the factory.  $2,995 isn't a bad price for a custom job.  To repaint it yourself is more than that.  Even a decent wrap job will be more than 3k.

On top of the price of a Golf R?  It would be worth it to me to get something absolutely stunning (and you are right about the oranges) instead of the same old same old that you see on every car.

If only they offered this for the wagon.

We could finally get our AWD, manual, brown, wagon.  No diesel but the TSI is efficient enough.

Pretty sure those are for the e-Golf.  Either way, how does that get approved?

Absolutely, same for me as well.  Not saying $3k is a drop in the bucket, but I'd have zero issues paying the premium for a colour that I really WANT and is more exclusive.

absolutely...i guess it comes down to keeping the car long term...i suppose if you kept it for 10 years, it's only $300/year for that colour, and you might get more for the car when you sell it since it has an exclusive colour so you might recoup some of the cost...a few of the colours do look really nice.
