Beard/Stubble Trimmer
« on: February 18, 2018, 08:42:14 pm »
My current Conair trimmer is on it's last leg as the battery is only good for about 30 seconds now.  Can anyone recommend a good quality beard/stubble trimmer?  I'd prefer a full on electric one so I don't have to worry about battery life, but I'm open to options though.

Oh! Right in my wheelhouse!

I bought one of these on a lark after reading so many reviews and Best Grooming Product awards in my men's magazine.

I knew it was the real deal after I used it once to trim and shape my beard. I don't even use my expensive trimmer anymore. And you can use wet or dry...and absolutely no nicks or cuts if used for mandscaping "down below"

Use it to shave/style/shape right down close to the skin (surprisingly close shave) or use the combs/guards to trim beard to the right length. 3 guards included. 1mm, 3mm, 5mm for the perfect trim.

They now have a Pro version with 12 different lengths with a neat adjustable comb. I just have the basic version.

Highly recommended!

^^ I don't know about those, but I've always been a fan of the Philips electric shavers. The batteries in those last forever. I've had my current one for at least 6-7 years, and the battery is still in great shape. The one before that lasted close to ten years, IIRC, before the battery finally gave out.

Costco had a couple, one from Philips and the other I can't remember, Conair or Remington? The Philips one is good for shaving and trimming while the other one you could cut your own hair with as well as shave and trim. Both were $49.99. I use a Wahl hair cutting kit to trim currently along with my Philipshave (I'm not a manual razor shaver, nope, can't do it) but the haircutting kit is kinda messy to use for anything other than haircutting so I might look at one of these two at Costco.

You kids are nuts.

I've been highly intrigued by the Phillips one, too.  I have a more simple Remington one that works well, but isn't the most consistent cut on the first pass and will nick me every so often.

My hesitation with the one blade is that you have to replace the one blade every few months at ~$17-20. I haven't ever replaced the blade on mine.

What?!?!?! That sounds like a good way to get info out of a prisoner, not for manscaping.

You don't HAVE to replace the blade every few months.  You replace the blade when it's dull.  I'm still on my first blade....nearly a year old.  And it came with a spare blade too.

And I have a real beard.   :stick:

Your beard is no thicker than mine; rather, you merely keep it longer than I do for the most part.  Silly Ron ;)

I may bite.  At $44 to not nick my neck anymore (and to keep a dedicated manscaping razor instead of sterilizing the sh!t out of my Remington blade after each use) may be worthwhile - I was really looking to hear whether the blades do, in fact, dull quickly or not.

All I remember seeing is peach fuzz on your face.   ;D

Also, even IF it did require blade replacement every 4 months, that's what....$1.25 per week??  A big swinging dick like you can easily afford that, no?

Just buy it already....and thank me later.

I'll get it from Costco - it's $10 more, but returns would be far easier if I'm not content:
