Import any New Make or Model from USA
« on: January 08, 2011, 06:53:45 pm »
I have been cruising these forums and it seems the only new vehicle anyone imports is the Subaru? SO many models and makes work!

2011 Honda Pilot
2011 Toyota Highlander
2011 Lexus RX350
2011 Sienna
2011 FX35 and FX50
2011 BMW X5D

All of these and soooo many more work way better than subaru... plus subaru warranty doesnt transfer and they only have that gentlemen agreement with Subaru Canada...

Why doesnt anyone import other vehicles?

Is there anything other than a Subaru worth buying?

Seriously, the Subaru models are seriously overpriced in Canada compared to the US.

Haha. Subarus are great cars for sure. However Subarus savings is not even close to what the other models save, plus majority of them have full warranty in Canada.

RX350 averages at $8k savings over CDN pricing after import before tax savings, with full warranty and extra options.
Highlander and Pilot are both close behind at average of $6k after import.

Lexus and Toyota sell like crazy from the USA as well, i guess due to the warranty, but also the savings are huge

There are some Subaru owners that saved $15K.  Savings run from $3K and up.

As far as I know imported US market Honda's have no warranty what so ever.

As for Subaru owners saving $15k, i know Tribecas work quite well being NA built, but the same can be said for alot of model ranges. Im not doubting that Subarus are great for import, but realistically there are many other makes that work better, i was just wondering why no one on this forum talks about other vehicles.

And you are right, Hondas warranty does not transfer into Canada. All the dealers i buy new Hondas from in WA will honor warranty for my canadian customers, but I have heard of some other states saying they wont do it. It would be best to call a dealership in the US close to you to find out if they will cover your car. Honda does not "void" the warranty like many people are afraid of.
