RS6 is the beast you want for a wagon

We had a few 2021-2022 RS6s in inventory, and I swiped them for a few nights to "evaluate". Mrs. Hire loves wagons, so she did love the idea, but immediately after spending 3-4 days in one, we flew to Italy and had a diesel A4 Allroad as a rental for a couple weeks. Turns out, beyond the sheer flex factor of the RS6 (showing off acceleration to friends, and bombing on the highway), the Allroad did everything more agreeably.

The only reason we're getting an M5 is because she likes the idea of having an M5 Touring daily and an E39 M5 as her toy. And after specs and pricing are released, we may very well cancel on the whole idea and she just keeps cycling through annual Grand Cherokee demos.

Ahh forgot the rest of you don't have hwy 407  ;D

And at 50 kph over the limit they impound your car.  This car doesn't feel like it is moving until over 200 kph.  What is the point?

Have you seen Jacques Villeneuve's pink RS6?  There's a video of it on Instagram.

407 they don't even look at you unless your over 130, I always cruise at 130 when I use it and lots of guys pass me like doing 140/150, never seen anyone pulled over, the fact you pay big bucks to drive on it influences their enforcement

But isn't that the whole "raison d'etre " for the RS, AMG and M badges, none of us need that level of power, nor can some handle it, it's just expensive bragging wrights  :skid:

Personally, I just like having the beastly power in my daily driver as most just don't end up driving their toy/track cars nearly as much as they envision when they first buy them.

See Shorlaw's 5-year old vette with 12,000km.   (No offense intended - his case is typical).

Sure you end up with way too much capability for 95% of your driving...but so what!   At least it's not sitting in your garage.
The times to drive your two-seater are few and far between in reality.

HEY!  How’d I get dragged in as a cautionary tale!   :rofl2:

I agree with your point, and the funny thing is my plan was for it to be my daily all summer and I put about 4500 km’s on it the first few months I had it, but then Covid hit, I decided to retire, and so it sits way too much of the time

Well with the choice of vehicles at your house I can see how that could easily happen.

What is stopping people from commuting in their two seater? I've never had one but if I had something like a Cayman I can't see why I wouldn't drive it to work almost every day from May through October.

I've managed to put almost 27,000kms on my SLK since I picked it up in mid-August of 2020 :skid:

True - some folks could make it work.  I was more referring to the comparison of buying a track car/toy+daily driver rather than something like an RS6/M5 Touring.  The all-in-1 package has some appeal.   And for many, myself included, maintaining more than 1 car just seems like a hassle!

Situation might flip once my kids were long out of the house and assuming my wife still has a bigger hauler.   Then I could imagine just driving a two seater daily and yearround!   I'd definitely be the type to throw winters on my 911.

Back on topic:   M5 Touring looks badass  ;D
