Any chance we can get a review of the longer 7-passenger Santa Fe with the V6 at some point? That's the one that really interests me!
I don't think it's out yet.

Well that would explain why I haven't seen anything written on it. Thanks!

The long wheelbase Santa Fe XL (that's what it will be called in Canada) will arrive early next year.

What is the roof rack solution look like? Hard to tell from the pics posted. I have a 2009 SF Limted and the rails are integrated into the roof to accept plenty of OEM and third party roof rack systems. I have had the same Thule roof rack components for 10 years now, just change the feet/fit system when I change vehicles. The Thule foot podiums work with the 09 SF rails perfectly. Hoping that the same applies with the new one. Not in the market to replace the 09 yet, but when I do, you can be sure I'll be looking at Hyundai before any where else.

I just saw the video. Is that app available for androids in Canada too?  I don't see any mention of it on Hyundai Canada's site.

That app is tied into the Blue Link telematics system offered in the U.S. (like OnStar, but bigger). We don't offer Blue Link in Canada at this time. Traditional remote starter kits are offered here as Hyundai Genuine Accessories.

I'm a big fan of the Santa Fe's styling.  It's the best rendition of their Fluidic Sculpture theme to date,  by a long shot.  For me it's the best looking CUV in its class.

I've seen a few on the road and did a double take each time - very sharp looking in the metal.  Can't wait to see how the LWB version looks in person.

While I really like to look of this at the time, I wonder how the style will age over the next few years.

Seems to me that we are seeing more dynamic styling across the board from mainstream manufacturers.  Check out the new Avalon for heavens sake - it actually has some style now - good style, too.  I suspect that the safer, more sedate designs that have dominated for a good long while in mainstream sedans and CUVs are more likely to look dated as time passes.  I don't pretend to know the future, but that's my guess.

Interesting read. A review of the SF in a recent issue ( can't remember which one )of a  major American magazine  found some  of the same issues. The turbo  was suprisingly slow - only .3 of a second faster to 60 than the non turbo- and had a somewhat stiff ride.

I considered waiting for the 13 but bought a left over 12 instead ( V6 AWD ).  I love the V6  and the ride/handling seems to be a very nice compromise-good handling and a good ride.

The 13 turbo is something like 1.5 seconds slower to 60 than the V6 . I'm glad I bought the 12. It looks great though - so much better than the whimpy Escape IMO.

Indeed it is, and from all angles.  Seen quite a few already and they really stand out.  I'll give a mention to the CX5, that one equally gets my attention every time.

Comment from a Quebec resident in another Hyundai forum is that Blue Link is not offered in canada as it would need to be offered as a bi-lingual package and Hyundai does not want to develop it for the small Canadian market. Any truth to that?

I think you made the right choice with the 2012 V6. By 2012 Hyundai had worked out some of their initial transmission issues that arrived with the 2010's, but it still has the n/a V6 that seems to get the same or better fuel economy as the 2.0T but offers better acceleration. The new Santa Fe is also more expensive - for the price we paid for our 2010 V6 GL, we would be in a 2.4L 4-cylinder model with the new pricing structure. Having driven it with the 2.4, I wouldn't take one home.

I suspect the 19 inch wheels contribute to the stiff ride.  It would be nice if they offered the 17s on the 2.0T model.

Now I'm leaning towards the upcoming 'XL' model with 5+2 seating and a V6, at least between the two Santa Fe models.

2013 Pathfinder did 0-60 in just over 7 seconds (pretty impressive for the size) with 260hp/240trq engine; the Santa Fe XL with lighter weight and stronger engine technically should go even faster.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and predict that the superior power/weight ratio of the Sante Fe XL won't actually lead to superior acceleration numbers compared to the competition.  Don't know if it's the gearing, the (relative) lack of low-rpm power, or if Hyundai is more aggressive with their HP ratings, but recent Hyundai's haven't been as quick as the specs would suggest they should be (not that they're slow).
