I got a sudden loss of power and a CEL while on the highway this morning about 80 kms from home  I managed to limp back to town ( 125 downhills and struggling to do 90 uphill). Feels like it could be fuel flow issue. Car is in the shop now  so we'll see. Car is due for a new fuel filter at the next service in about 5,000 kms
How many kilo's on the vehicle now?

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

Me neither.....I've had cars blow engines or transmissions, but never limp.
Lighten up Francis.....

I have, turned it off and on again. Fixed it.

This is actually the second time this has happened. The first was when the dealership jumbled up the intervals  (supposed to be every 45K) and missed doing it on schedule. It went at about 10K past due. This one had 4-5K left before it was scheduled to be replaced. Not a huge number of diesel cars here....might have gotten some old fuel along the way.

My local indy recommends changing it out every 30k kms on my dad's E320 CDI diesel.  Which translates into every second service (15k kms between service intervals).

Pretty sure the van has the original fuel filter.  Don't remember seeing in the service records from previous owners.  220k now...

Do all cars have limp mode?

No, not all.  But if your fuel filter is clogged....the car would run like a turd...which would be a sort of limp mode anyways.   ;D
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

It's more of a diesel thing to frequently change the fuel filter.

I never once changed it in my Protégé, 340k later.

I'm no expert on automotive diesels but  my experience with marine diesels is that you always carry spare filters.
