Hey John, I wonder if you might be able to find a Forester in the salvage yards with a LSD.  Might not be too difficult to swap it in, no?

Could do, I suppose.  Easier to do as I did, and just find an "S" trim model from the get-go.  They're common, and you get the other stuff including heated seats, mirrors, wiper park, six-disc stereo (lol, in 2014) nicer upholstery, and leather steering wheel and shifter.
