imagine dealing with those people daily... multiple versions of them... and them also treating you like it's your fault if the vehicle they want doesn't fall into their affordability range, or if the bank won't approve them, or their trade isn't worth what they owe...

just finished with a guy who just happened to pull into the lot... so not looking at something specific, and hasn't done enough homework. offered me his scrap vehicle as trade and 5k off an 18k car. polite no thanks since we had already discussed that my prices are quite firm... rather than continue the conversation inside or going for a drive like i suggest, he just says, "fine, talk to your manager and call me when you are about to send it to auction" and he storms off.

a) i don't have his number, b) i told him that the car actually has a deal written on it, but the financing is proving, "difficult" and c) we are receiving 3 leads a day from across the province on this particular car as it's the cheapest one around.

i'm trying to help... don't treat me as the enemy and we'll come to some kind of agreement... or at least not a total waste of your time. i think that's what i don't get... the people willing to just waste their own time coming to zero conclusions or even taking away any new information from their stop by.

as for weinstein... just horrible that a person in that type of position abuses their power. don't care if it's him, a priest, a teacher, a boss... whatever. it does tend to be the "old boys" types who tend to be the culprit nearly every time though.

sorry you (and any other people) have had to deal with it. some people are sh!ts.

^ I don't know how you do it tooscoops. I think I'd snap.

I think people learn quickly to adapt and tune out the flakes.  Some have an easier time than others with this, but I think most people can cope better than they think.  That said, I think auto sales would be one of the most challenging environments thanks to the history of the industry and the preconceived notions that people come to the lot with.

you should see the current deal on the car this guy was "offering" on...

the person buying it has just some of the worst credit possible... so someone out of province is going to sign for it on the ontario person won't show up on the deal... but they refuse to come here to sign and want it all done scans and such... but a bank document, we have to sign off that the signer is who they say they are and we have never met this person. now the actual driver of it (the original customer) refuses to come in because she thinks we are ripping her off based on the interest rate (best we can get her). the girls uncle has been the one trying to get this sorted and calls in every day for the last 8 business days. he is unemployed with brutal credit so is of no help (but thinks he's the "man" so he has to be involved)... they have signed some papers, but still refuse to give us a penny for a deposit. the salesperson involved has nearly been fired over this deal, the finance manager has had her ear chewed from customer and staff alike and meanwhile, they are just trying to do their jobs.

so glad this one isn't my deal. i want to sell it just so they can be done with them and tell them it sold.

Oh god the panic I had about 2km after the Spanish frontière at the first gare de piège......"*insert torrent of french explicitives here* je comprend pas des panneaux quelle voie ?!?!?!?!?"

They post signs first in Basque, then espagnol. Neither of which I understand. And the symbols are unusual. But that's why I like Europe, always something different. Still.....c'mon.....basque first ?! Would it be so hard to put french right after crossing from France ?

The right side I can get, not really a problem. Not too distantly related to français.

The left is Basque. Good luck with that.

When I first started working in engineering, it was mostly men in the office, with women mostly relegated to clerical. Some of our older engineers had a difficult time adapting to having female engineers and techs in the office. Fortunately, management was pretty good at addressing those situations.

The only major issue that I remember was a client that got "handsy" with one of our engineers. When our project manager found out about it, he called his counterpart at the client's office, and Mr. Hands was terminated immediately.

That's awesome.

I do remember being ogled by a cafeteria full of men in a large plant in Moncton, when I was a QC Lab Sales Specialist.  Very uncomfortable feeling, and an unwelcome reminder that I was "a girl" in a man's world.

Going to the gym and the city has new construction that makes it so I have to drive way, way around thanks to no left turns for blocks and blocks.  I follow their detour and then it takes me back around with no way to get where I'm going.  The Anti-Destination League is on their game right now!!

That reminds me of asking a Postman for directions to Fenway when we were in Boston.

"Fenway?  You can't get there from here."

I get a text from my sister yesterday. My niece is 16 and my sister wants to get her a car. She said she couldn't find anything local. She's budgeted about $9k.

That sounded odd to me. So I looked on Kijiji in NB. It didn't take long to see a fairly long list of good used cars. I send her some links for promising looking Corollas/Vibetrix/Camrys.

"STANDARD? No way!"
"These cars only have AC and cruise control!"
"You have to crank the windows?"
"110k kilometers seems high."
"We're not doing a private sale. Dealer only."
 Etc.

Ah. The problem isn't lack of cars, it's the lack of loaded up used cars that are in perfect condition, are only a couple of years old and low kilometres.

I wished her luck. ;D

Yeah...that just sounds like something that would cause your blood pressure to rise to a point where you could operate farm machinery from your arteries....stay far away.
