I highly recommend watching The Barkley Marathons:  The Race That Eats Its Young.  It is a documentary about an absolutely bonkers race in the US.  Very entertaining as well.  It was on Netflix, not sure if it still is.

A couple of weeks ago I ran the gorgeous Skyline Trail in Jasper.  It's 47km, with almost 30 of that above treeline with amazing views.  It's a challenging run as it has over 1500M of net gain and some parts are steep - one section gains 600M in only 2km.   You sure notice a 30% grade!

:o OMG...47 KM!! Can I take an ATV?

 :rofl2:

In a couple of weeks I'm running Snowbird Pass in Robson Park.  It's 67km with 2000M of gain/loss.  I ran it a couple years ago in late October and parts were calf deep snow, do I'm hoping for at least less snow this time.

The race was a mixed bag.  After my last long run before the race, my left knee started acting up. Sharp pains, couldn't put weight on it.  My wife came down with the flu.  So we were both disappointed and thought about dropping DNSing the race, but then figured dropping down to the 10k would be a good compromise.

Turned out it was the right decision as the knee was pretty bad after the race, and my wife was glad she didn't have to do the extra 11.1k with a less than optimal respiratory system.

On a positive note, it was a fantastic event.  Hecla is a beautiful part of the country!  Gorgeous course, trees changing colour, part of the course was on the lake shore.  Last 2k was a trail run.  Best post-race food and drink I've had at a race.  Sangria, open-face smoked salmon sandwiches, sliders, fruit, vegetables, chicken and pork skewers etc.

We plan to attack the half at this event next year.

Good day to be alive today.  Great long run throughout Oakville in the early morning hours.  Perfect running weather with temps around 0.  Watched the sunrise while running the lakeshore.  Beautiful place to live.
Yes, but 2nd place to running the canal in YOW. Gatineau Parc is not to shabby wither, except for the occasional bear and/or Fisher.

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

Speaking of running (well and cycling) my ipod shuffle is slowly dying. I still can't fathom why they killed it. It's the perfect little device for joggin - FFS I'm not using my phone.

Looking for a replacement and this thing seems like it might be perfect. Anyone have one?

https://bemighty.com/products/mighty

Seems to have pretty good reviews. I just want basic music playing for running and no :censor:.

V man. I have a similar sized one. Made by Sandisk and is called the Clip. Has a teeny, tiny screen too. They make a sport version too, though no idea what the diff is.

Super easy to use, small and works as expected.

Would recommend. About $50
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Lots of my friends were there, but alas not me.  I don't run organized races anyway.  That's a good time.
