Looks like a fun road trip, if MT is paying at least.  So far away...

And the winner is.....................not the Raptor  :'(

I was surprised the Raptor was less well-behaved than the PowerWagon on the pot-holed road in Day 4.  I would have thought that the supple, compliant nature of the Raptor's suspension was built for that stuff, vs. the solid-axled PowerWagon.

maple whisky.... "tasted like a sad denny's"... heh...

my neighbour just got back tuesday from that trip in his rubicon! he and his wife's tenth anniversary... ditched the kids and went on the trails! they both just loved it.

anyway, i'm a bit surprised... i would have guessed raptor... then after the comments here prior to reading it, i thought, "guess it's the canyon"... we just had a power wagon show up here and man... does look badass... but i didn't think it would beat those guys, both newer models.

The Power Wagon is an actual offroad vehicle, solid axles, big long travel coil springs, lockers in both axles, lots of ground clearance, lots of underbody armor where the Raptor is a wannabe pre runner/Baja 1000 stand in.

I LOVE the Powerwagon - it's my favorite of the three.  I had always just imagined it best for the low speed, push your way through anything kind of off-roading.  For the highspeed stuff like crappy roads, I always figured the Raptor had it locked down.  I guess not.

See, there is not a lot of washboard on sand dunes and driving on gravel suspension is important, but so are tires. The BFgoodriches on the Raptor are not a proper offroad tire, the Duratracs on the Ram are.

The Powerwagon is mostly a Rubicon done up as a big truck.

Why would they pick a Colorado instead of a Silverado for the Chevy entry?

I don't think Silverado has an off-road package like the Colorado

Yup, the Sierras Z71 package is nowhere near the Power Wagons/Colorado

Ah.  I did not know that.  Thank you!

Yes, read up on the ZR2 when you have a minute.  Really fancy shocks, lifted ride height, locking diffs front and rear.  It really is quite the package.  It's basically a baby PowerWagon, minus the size and solid front axle.  This is one instance of GM doing an off-road package completely correctly.
