Oh, yeah, holy crap do Corollas hold their value.  It's why we bought new.  2-3yr old units are just too expensive compared to new.  I figured dealers would negotiate down, and no, they would not.  And sure enough, the cars were selling.

Subarus used to be awesome used buys.  Ten years ago when we bought our Forester, they depreciated HARD.  Today, word is out, and now they're terrible used buys.
That's why I'm trying to swap out our 2010 'rolla for a 2014 - not that Dad's going for it.

...and that's why we bought out our 2011 Forester XT - in 4 years, it's depreciated ~ $10,500.  If we sell it now after our buyout, we could make our retroactive effective lease payments under $300/month. ($35,500 new, negotiated amount/grad rebate covered what would be the HST, sell for $25k (est), $10,500/36months = $291.67/month).  I figure if we keep it for another year, then if we can still get $22,000, then $13,500/48 = $281.25/month.  Not bad for holding a loaded vehicle for 4 years.

Anyone want to buy a sweet Crosstrek?

http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Subaru/XV+Crosstrek/Toronto/Ontario/5_32242288_20110127075959692/?showcpo=ShowCPO&orup=3_15_19

For sure this is our old one.  Mileage matches and has the Weathertech mats in it.
Mazda dealer here doesn't put any off makes on their lot, so off to auction it went I guess.  Guess it will be spending the rest of its life in hell GTA.

$25K.  :o  Holey moley.  We paid $31 for it new.

Kinda sad to see what happens to your old ride. The wife cried when I recycled the printer...

And yeah, 3 years and 51,000 km to get a loaded version for the price of a base... They're out of their minds.

I think $20k would be reasonable, albeit still a bit high.
