Well, it's in the manual.

Totally weird...! I have never had a car that did that, not even the Jetta.

same here...however, since it's in the manual, perhaps it is really an issue...just seems odd, that's all...like rrocket said, most manufacturers don't seem to have this issue.

So the fogging is part of the design in an intricate, over-complicated German-engineered headlight module ventilation system.

In the Odyssey, I had a tailight filling up with water. I removed it from the van, drained the water out, left it overnight on a floor vent to dry, sealed it with clear silicone the day after and reinstalled, along the joint between the clear plastic and grey backing. No more water.

Never had fog in the Golf's headlights.

Have you checked it? Is it still there, or did someone steal it? LOL!

Fortunately it's really easy to change the rear bulb. It's almost like they expected this to happen.

I replaced the Xenon headlight bulbs in the GTI last spring, but that’s been it so far.

Just saw yesterday that one of the Yukon’s brake lights was burnt out, so just changed it this morning. Only two screws and two posts that fit into rubber sockets, so it’s easy, but those posts grip tight and there’s not much to hold on to while pulling the housing off.

This was the second time I’ve done it (did the other side a year ago) and I was still scared I’d snap something. I should probably invest in a set of those little plastic pry tools for next time.

The bulb was super easy to replace.

Has anyone ever upgraded their reverse lights to LED?  Online reviews seem pretty favorable.

Yikes. That's not a good sign.

I'm very much looking forward to your write up on that.

I wanted to "pimp out" my Mazda 3 with LEDs for all exterior lights (other than HIDs for the lowbeam); but folks seem to suggest that there are "issues" when changing out dual voltage usages (brake lights and DRL/High beams - and turn signals in the case of the Mazda 3 - the Forester wouldn't have a problem since the ambers aren't on as marker lights) sometimes.  I don't really think LED reverse lights matter all that much - you'll be plenty visible with stock, I'd think.

FWIW, Canadian Tire used to have Phillips LED bulbs that would fit reverse lights, etc, but I don't see them online anymore.  Not sure why that is, but it's something to consider.

Incorrect, I got oversize, LED backup bulbs for the Mitsu and they are fantastic. Try backing up at night when its pitch black behind you, they make a huge difference.
Lighten up Francis.....

Good point - though not hugely relevant in the suburbs of Guelph :P

I find them handy for when we are at any of our friends that are out in the country, poorly lit driveways suck.

Ugh.

My wife drove off Monday with the block heater cord still attached. It must have pulled free from the timer instead of the bumper.

Cord is gone. Apparently they're around $200 to replace.

No damage to the bumper but the recepticle is no longer perfectly aligned.  There is a black line on the bumper where it would have rubbed before it was caught by the wheel. It should be easy to polish off.

I'll was thinking to bring it in to make sure none of the wiring was damaged.  Seems like a bit of a risk to just plug it in.

Also, if the plug is damaged you have to replace the entire heater.

It sure was nice to have during the cold spells.

Ha!

Agreed.  Though it would be nice if it was a standard three prong plug instead of some proprietary cable.

Yeah. They're the same cord.

I posted to the VW TDI Facebook page and a member has offered to send it to me for the cost of shipping.
