Slight change of pace this week and into an all-new car for 2015: the 2015 Hyundai Sonata. My tester is a Turbo 2.0T model fitted with the Ultimate package, which basically means… you guessed it, fully loaded. It is so loaded that it could be mistaken for the Genesis that I had a few weeks ago – they look similar as well – in fact, the dealer did.

A practical family sedan for just over $36,000 before taxes, with a $750 rebate (current at the time of this writing) if you are planning to run out and buy one right now. So what do you get for your $36,000 — well, lots including many advanced features like lane departure, radar cruise control, back-up cameras and more.

The Sonata Ultimate package actually seems like a smoking deal on paper, I’ll see how the drive goes this week but so far after just picking up the car and a short drive I’m fairly impressed, especially after finding out the price.

Equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline direct-injection engine the Sonata is driven forward by a six-speed transmission that turns the front wheels and delivers an impressive 245 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

The 2015 Sonata, like many Sonatas before it, offers great value for money, but does it drive well? Does it offer a car that you want to live with, despite the great value? Stay tuned this week to read my impressions.
