As one might expect, the trunk offered ample space for luggage, golf clubs or any soccer equipment one might be hauling. One could even offer to shuttle the children’s soccer mates to and from games without having to worry about capacity.

To keep the kids entertained, Dad or Mom could have also chosen an optional Bose stereo system blaring C & C Music Factory’s “Gonna Make you Sweat.” The Delco speakers found in the base model received an upgrade as well to Bose speakers – nice touch!

All in all, the Lumina Z34 represented GM’s attempt to offer up a mid-size performance-oriented sedan to the family man, one who also wanted to demonstrate that he possessed a sense of style and performance.

While in today’s world, one can definitely tell that the Z34 is a pre-2000 model (largely based upon its exterior styling cues), it still looks good and beckons a second look. Its low profile stance and exterior trim package make the vehicle stand out in a crowd – dare I suggest it still possesses a sense of “coolness?”

These vehicles are rare yet a nicely preserved one can be purchased in the $3,500 to $5,000 range. This is low money really for a piece of GM automotive history, dating back to a period when U.S. automakers were not afraid to take risks, definitely had more money in their bank accounts and any news stories were more likely to be about the latest new model appearing at a dealership near you.
