NEW FOR 2016:
– New infotainment system
For 2016, Scion’s tC coupe receives an upgraded stereo system – a 7.0-inch touchscreen unit with Aha internet radio capabilities. The system’s screen is about an inch larger than last year’s model. Other than this, the tC is carried over without change.
In a product line now consisting of two coupes and a five-door hatchback, the tC provides buyers with a visually appealing but practical alternative to an ordinary compact car. Though it may look like a coupe, the tC is actually a liftback with an unusually large cargo bay. It’s also a very safe vehicle; its stiff structure and eight standard airbags have earned it a trophy case full of IIHS Top Safety Pick awards.
Though it may stand in the shadows of the FR-S in the fun-to-drive stakes, the tC is competitive against rival coupes like the base Kia Forte Koup and Honda Civic with its fully independent rear suspension and 179-hp 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine. The tC has a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment, with a six-speed automatic available as an optional extra.
The tC is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, cloth sport bucket seats, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, cruise control, vanity mirrors, driver’s seat one-touch walk-in with track and seat angle memory, outside temperature gauge, power locks with keyless entry, 12-volt power outlet, tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio controls, chrome exhaust tip, two-pane panoramic sunroof, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, variable intermittent wipers, rear washer/wiper, 7.0-inch display audio system with AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo with eight speakers, auxiliary input, USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, driver and passenger front knee airbags, and active front head restraints.
Available factory- or dealer-installed options include a hood deflector, rear spoiler, side window visors, all-season floor mats, cargo liner, mat and net, heated leather seats, Alpine premium sound system, satellite radio, block heater, remote starter and security system.
