Perhaps I’m a distant relative of Sir-Mix-A-Lot? Certainly, my ability to rap would prove otherwise, and perhaps my race as well, but there is no denying I like big butts in automotive form, and there is none larger than the Porsche Panamera’s. This week, I get to understand what it would be like to own one of these; my tester is only a V6 model but filled with all the same style as the more powerful V8 models for a fraction of the coin.

My tester is also a rear-wheel drive version, which is always a treat and doubly so when we have some snow. All should be well, as long as I do not get stuck due to a set of winter tires geared very much to performance, probably dictated by the 20-inch optional wheels that adorn my tester.

I won’t deny it: I like this car, and even the smaller engine doesn’t deflect from its charm and presence on the road. Starting at a base price of $86,600 I am hoping in a few years the used market will let me hop into one. But for now, let’s look at this specific car. Like any Porsche, it can be optioned to be a very customized car, and adding Dark blue Metallic paint for $910 to my tester is just the start.

ParkAssist front and rear adds $690 which is pretty reasonable, front and rear heated seats a little less reasonable at $1,200. The adaptive air suspension a hefty $4,500 and 20-inch sport wheels an equally hefty $4,220. Brushed aluminum trim, typically standard on vehicles in this price range, is another $1,140 and the BOSE surround sound system adds another $1,650. To top off my tester the sport chrono package is added for a final price of $102,650. So much for that “inexpensive” version!

The Panamera V6 is powered by a 3.6-litre engine derived from the V8 Panamera S’ engine. It produces 300hp and is coupled to Porsche’s seven-speed dual-clutch PDK automatic transmission.
