NEW FOR 2015:

-GX trim with air conditioning replaced with GX w/ Comfort Package, which includes manual air conditioning, trip computer, and a tachometer.
-GT now available with six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment, replacing last year’s automatic, which becomes an option in GT trim
-GS trim can no longer be had with ‘sand’ cloth trim; an optional off-white leather interior in certain trims can only be matched with ‘Soul Red Mica’ and ‘Jet Black Mica’ paint

Following a complete redesign in 2014, the 2015 Mazda3 gets a few running changes, the most significant of which is the addition of a manual transmission to the GT model and its trim-exclusive 2.5L engine.

Otherwise, the car is carried over: it’s available in three trims–GX, GS, and GT– and two body styles–a sedan, and a hatchback the company brands as the Mazda3 Sport. Both bodies are offered with a pair of engines and transmissions, whose availability depends on which trim you want. GX and GS use a 2.0L four-cylinder that makes 155 hp and 150 lb-ft, and can be matched with a choice of six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, while the GT gets a 2.5L motor making 184 hp and 185 lb-ft, that can also be mated to manual or automatic gearboxes.

The base GX includes 16-inch tires and steel wheels, keyless entry and power door locks, power windows and power mirrors, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, dual exhausts, auto-off headlights, body-coloured outside door handles, power side mirrors with body-coloured housings, variable intermittent wipers, auto-off headlights, black beltline moulding, four-speaker stereo with auxiliary and USB inputs, steering wheel-mounted buttons for audio and Bluetooth controls, power windows and door locks, push-button start, manual six-way driver’s seat, four-way manual front passenger seat, one-piece folding rear seat, cloth seats, tilt-and-telescopic steering, piano-black interior trim, keyless entry, and interior trunk release.

The mid-range Mazda3 GS trim adds air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler (on sedan), HD radio with six speakers, trip computer, cruise control, rear seat armrest with cupholders, illuminated vanity mirrors, SD card slot, side mirror indicators, side mirrors with integrated turn signal repeaters, rear spoiler, six-speaker stereo, colour touchscreen display with HMI commander, backup camera, digital tachometer, illuminated vanity mirrors, rear-seat armrest with cupholders, exterior temperature display, 60/40 split-folding rear seatback, upgraded cloth upholstery, and an overhead console with sunglass holder.

Top-of-the-line GT models use 18-inch wheels, and get a new heads-up display, dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation, intelligent keyless entry, auto on/off bi-xenon headlights, heated side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, fog lights, nine-speaker stereo, satellite radio, sunroof, and heated front seats.
