NEW FOR 2011:

– Limited-edition RGB Special Edition

For 2011, the Lotus Exige is unchanged, except for the addition of the RGB Special Edition model. No more than 20 will be available for North America.

The RBG Special Edition commemorates Roger Becker, Lotus’ director of vehicle engineering, who retired after 44 years with the company. The special model will include the otherwise optional Sports and Touring packages as standard equipment and uses a top-line supercharged model that produces 257 horsepower. It is available in Aspen White, Starlight Black, Solar Yellow or Carbon Grey and includes a numbered plaque, special nose badge and Becker’s signature.

The Exige line-up consists of the S240 and the lightweight, more powerful S260. Both use a supercharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine, sourced from Toyota and tuned by Lotus that makes 240 horsepower in the S240, and 257 horsepower in the S260. Both use a six-speed manual transmission, and feature a lightweight, epoxy-bonded aluminum frame and composite fibreglass body.

Standard features on the S240 include 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, high-intensity projection beam headlights, LED taillights, aluminum alloy fuel filler door, traction control, twin oil coolers, cross-drilled brake discs, cloth sport seats, CD stereo, leather-trimmed Momo steering wheel, intermittent wipers, floor mats, power locks, power windows, anti-theft alarm and tire pressure monitoring system.

The S260 Sport deletes the rear window, rear-view mirror, and passenger foot rest, and adds carbon fibre components, including the front lower splitter, roof, rear engine cover, side air intake ducts, rear wing, and access panels below the windshield.

Available options on the S240 include a Touring Pack, which adds leather seats, CD stereo with iPod connector, stowage net, additional sound insulation, full carpet set and leather-trimmed centre console; a Track Pack, which adds adjustable Ohlins shocks with threaded spring perches and remote front and rear oil reservoirs; and a limited-slip differential. Options on the S260 Sport are limited to paint choices.
