For 2011, the Land Rover LR2 is updated with styling changes, including a new front bumper, front fog lamp bezels, halogen projector headlamps and two-bar grille. At the rear, the taillamps have a clear inner lens and black lens surround, body-colour tailgate handle, and full-width signature trip. Additional body-colour parts include the door handles, headlamp washer jets, door mirrors, lower side door panels and rear bumper, while the mirrors have a 10 per cent larger glass area, and there are new 18- and 19-inch alloy wheel designs. There are new seat styles and a redesigned instrument cluster. The Land Rover logo also changes colour from gold on green, to bright silver on green.
The LR2 uses a 3.2-litre inline six-cylinder with a six-speed automatic transmission. Its Haldex permanent all-wheel drive system is front-wheel biased, and uses a “pre-charge” to the electronically-actuated coupling for instant torque transfer when required, detecting traction loss at just 15 degrees of slip. A driver-selectable Terrain Response system can be set into one of four modes: general driving, grass/gravel/snow, mud/ruts, and sand.
The LR2 comes in a single trim line, the HSE, and includes 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, eight-way driver and six-way passenger power-adjustable heated perforated leather seats, rear spoiler, driver’s knee airbag, cargo cover, keyless entry with pushbutton start, heated mirrors, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, headlight washers, front and rear fog lamps, dual-panel panoramic sunroof, privacy glass, tire pressure monitoring system, cruise control, heated windshield washer nozzles, auto-down windows, trip computer, rear park assist, and six-CD stereo with auxiliary input and steering wheel-mounted controls.
Four option packages are available. The Cold Climate Package adds heated seats, heated windshield and heated washer jets. The HSE Plus Package adds Sirius satellite radio receiver, Bluetooth connectivity, adaptive bi-xenon headlamps, puddle lamps, front map lights, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, garage door opener, and driver’s side mirror. The HSE Lux Package builds on the HSE Plus and adds navigation system, Alpine premium stereo, six-CD changer with 14 speakers, and rear-seat headphone sockets. The HST Package adds sport body kit, HST-design grille, and dual tailpipe finisher.
