For 2010, the base Jeep Wrangler models change their names: formerly the Wrangler X and Wrangler Unlimited X, they are now called Sport. The Wrangler Sport receives considerable new standard equipment missing on the X, including upgraded seats, new gauges, a full-length floor console, new bumper, and Interactive Decel Fuel Shut-Off, which cuts the fuel supply on deceleration for improved fuel economy.

Other changes include new wheel finishes for the Sahara and Rubicon, the addition of UConnect phone to the CD/DVD/MP3 Media Centre stereo, and a soft top that’s easier to use.

The Wrangler is available as the two-door Wrangler, or as the four-door Wrangler Unlimited, in Sport, Sahara and Rubicon trim lines. All use a 3.8-litre V6 with six-speed manual transmission or optional four-speed automatic, and with part-time four-wheel drive.

Features on the Wrangler Sport include 16-inch steel wheels, full-framed doors with roll-up windows, black fender flares, fog lamps, black manual mirrors, tow hooks, Sunrider soft top, variable intermittent wipers, rear under-floor storage bin, floor console with locking bin, front floor mats, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, two-tone cloth bucket seats, driver’s height adjustment, fold-and-tumble second-row bench seat, tilt steering column, removable carpet panels with floor drain plugs, Dana 30 solid front axle, Dana 44 heavy-duty solid rear axle, 3.21 axle ratio, hill start assist, skid plates, and tire pressure monitoring system.

The Wrangler Sport S package adds 17-inch alloy wheels, deep-tinted windows, cruise control, and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Unlimited Sport is equipped similarly to the Sport S, but adds a 60/40 split-folding and reclining second-row bench seat, and front and rear floor mats.

The Wrangler Sahara builds on the Sport S and adds 18-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, body-colour fender flares, tubular side steps, Freedom Top three-piece modular hardtop, power locks with keyless entry, security alarm, power windows with auto-down, premium Infinity speakers and subwoofer, and heavy-duty suspension.

The Unlimited Sahara is similarly equipped.

The Wrangler Rubicon builds on the Sport S and adds 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, power locks with keyless entry, power windows with auto-down, security alarm, premium Infinity speakers and subwoofer, Dana 44 heavy-duty solid front axle, 4.10 axle ratio, front and rear remote electronic locking differentials, performance-tuned suspension, and electronic disconnecting front sway bar.

The Unlimited Rubicon is similarly equipped.

Depending on the trim line, available options include half-metal doors, dual hard- and soft-top package with storage bag, trailer tow package, navigation system, and leather seats.
