The Infiniti M35h — the “h” standing for hybrid — is what Infiniti calls the first true performance luxury hybrid sedan, offering V8-type performance with four-cylinder fuel economy. Is it too good to be true? My week behind the wheel of this Luxury sedan will attempt to determine that.

The M35h builds on Infiniti’s growing lineup of sporting luxury vehicles by using the 3.5-litre VQ35 V6 made famous in nearly every Infiniti and Nissan vehicle, and mating it to the company’s Direct Response Hybrid system, which uses a 50-kW electric motor combined with lithium-ion batteries.

As a base model, the M35h is loaded and the only additions that can be made to its content are dealer-installed accessories.

Standard features include Xenon headlights, 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, power folding heated mirrors, 10-way power adjustable front seats, Japanese ash wood trim, forest air conditioning, power tilt / telescoping steering wheel, power glass moonroof and push button start, to name a few.

Technology-wise, this car is also loaded with navigation, Bluetooth, radar cruise control, blind spot intervention and detection, lane departure warning and prevention and pre-crash seat belts (more on that later).

If you have $70,000 burning a hole in your pocket and want a vehicle that lets you have your cake and eat it too, this may be the one for you. Let’s see if it delivers on its spec sheet promises.
