NEW FOR 2014:
– All-new model.
Infiniti’s all-new Q50 represents a new chapter for the Japanese luxury brand. Not only does this high-tech sports sedan offer groundbreaking new technologies such as the world’s first steer-by-wire and predictive lane-keeping systems, it’s also available as a hybrid.
The Q50 Hybrid borrows its powertrain from the Q70 Hybrid, formerly known as the M35h. Where hybrids typically emphasis their frugality, as with the four-cylinder Lexus ES 300h and Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, the Q50 uses its electrified powertrain to enhance performance, much like the BMW ActiveHybrid 3.
The 3.5-litre V6 (downsized from the standard Q50’s 3.7 litres) is joined to a 67-hp, 214 lb-ft electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack by a pair of clutches. A smooth-shifting seven-speed automatic takes the place of most hybrids’ CVTs. Total output to the rear wheels is 360 hp, though the Q50 Hybrid is unique in that it can also be equipped with all-wheel drive. All that power and traction makes the Q50 Hybrid a very rapid machine, and a swift and silent companion in town and on highways.
The Q50 Hybrid is offered in three trim levels: Hybrid, Hybrid AWD, and Hybrid AWD Sport.
Standard equipment for the Q50 Hybrid includes 17-inch alloy wheels, drive-mode selector with five modes, hill-start assist, Direct Adaptive Steering (steer by wire), sport-tuned suspension, full LED headlamps, fog lights, solar glass, power moonroof, proximity key with push-button start, power heated exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals, speed-sensitive wipers, chrome exhaust, Scratch Shield paint, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents, illuminated vanity mirrors, overhead sunglass storage, aluminum interior trim, leather upholstery, eight-way power adjustable front seats with power lumbar support, heated front seats, leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knob, aluminum scuff plate, 14-speaker Bose sound system, AM/FM/CD/satellite radio, MP3 player, Infiniti InTouch display audio system 8.0-inch upper and 7.0-inch lower displays, dual USB ports, navigation, hybrid display, Bluetooth, active noise cancellation, reverse camera, trip computer, electroluminescent instruments, auto-dimming rear-view mirror with garage door opener, power tilt and telescoping steering column, cruise control, and pedestrian audible warning noise.
