NEW FOR 2013:

– Hyundai Elantra GT is a brand new model, based on the European Hyundai i30, and replaces the outgoing Hyundai Elantra Touring.

For 2013, the Elantra GT makes its debut – joining the new Elantra Coupe – replacing the outgoing Elantra Touring. The new Elantra GT, while sharing a nameplate with its sedan and coupe counterparts, is underpinned by the same architecture as the European market Hyundai i30. As such, we will only have information regarding the GT here. If you are looking for the Elantra sedan or coupe, head over to the Buyer’s Guide: 2013 Hyundai Elantra page.

The Elantra GT does share the same engine as others with the Elantra nameplate – a DOHC 16-valve, four-cylinder engine with D-CVVT (Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing) and two-stage Variable Intake System (VIS), producing 148 hp and 131 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic with SHIFTRONIC manual mode. At the front, a McPherson strut system, Sachs twin tube gas shocks, and 22mm stabilizer handle dampening duties; the rear gets a V-beam torsion axle with coil springs, Sachs monotube gas shocks, and 22mm stabilizer bar.
