For its final year of production, Ford phones it in with only some slight revisions in packaging to the 2014 Mustang. It also loses the much loved Boss 302 model.
Available as either a coupe or convertible, with a 3.7L V6 (305 hp, 280 lb-ft) or 5.0L Coyote V8 (420 hp, 390 lb-ft), the Mustang is the archetypical pony car. If you desire more power and have deep pockets, Ford will sell you a Shelby GT500 with a supercharged all-aluminum 5.8L V8 producing an astounding 662 hp and 631 lb-ft of earth shattering torque. Mustang is available with either a six-speed manual or optional six-speed automatic, except for the Shelby, which is only available with a Tremac six-speed manual transmission.
Features for the base V6 Coupe trim include 3.7L V6 engine, six-speed manual transmission, 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, air conditioning, Ford MyKey, message centre, black floor mats, tilt leather-wrapped steering wheel, premium AM/FM/CD stereo with auxiliary input, cloth seating, front bucket seats, 50/50 split-fold rear seats, dual exhaust, automatic HID headlights, LED taillights, V6 grille and splitter, Easy Fuel capless fuel filler system, power dome hood, power windows, vented four wheel disc brakes with ABS, 2.73:1 limited slip rear differential, selectable electronic power assisted steering, airbags (front, front seat), TPMS, LATCH, SOS post crash alert system, integrated spotter mirrors, and remote keyless entry.
V6 Premium Coupe trim adds 17-inch machined aluminum wheels with painted pockets and the choice of a wider range of options packages. This trim is also available as a convertible.
GT Coupe trim adds (to V6 Premium) 5.0L Coyote V8 engine, 18-inch painted aluminum wheels, ambient lighting, four-gauge cluster with 4.2-inch LCD message centre, universal garage door opener, auto-dimming rear view mirror, aluminum interior accents, bright accented pedals, bright chrome door speaker surround, eight-speaker Shaker audio, Ford SYNC, six-way power adjustable driver seat, leather trimmed seating, heated front seats, fog lights, deck spoiler, GT grille and splitter, power dome hood with heat extractors, 3.15:1 limited slip rear differential (automatic), 3.55 rear differential (manual), body colour mirrors, and illuminated entry. This trim is also available as a convertible.
Shelby GT500 adds (to GT) 5.8L supercharged V8 engine, Tremac six-speed manual transmission, 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, TrackApps, MyColor with SVT graphics, brushed aluminum gauged cluster and air vents, embroidered floor mats, Alcantara trimmed steering wheel, quad exhaust, Shelby rear decklid spoiler, unique front and rear Shelby fascias, aluminum hood with dual heat extractors, racing stripes and GT500 side stripes, Brembo front rotors and calipers, adjustable front and rear shocks, and 3.31 limited slip rear differential. This trim is also available as a convertible.
