For 2014, Dodge bolts its eight-speed automatic transmission into the Durango (replacing last year’s five- and six-speed units) and swaps out a traditional shift lever for a rotary controller. Engine choices remain the same, with a 3.6L Pentastar V6 (290 hp) serving as base power, and a 360-hp 5.7L Hemi V8 as the upgrade in Limited trim, and standard in R/T trim. Full-time, fully-automatic all-wheel drive is standard, and an electronically-controlled two-speed transfer case is an option.

Durango begins as the SXT, with the 3.6L engine, seven-passenger cloth seating, Uconnect 5.0, Bluetooth, streaming audio, USB and auxiliary inputs, customizable gauge cluster, steering wheel with paddle shifters and audio and cruise controls, full-length floor console, remote-folding third-row head restraints, second-row 60/40 fold-and-tumble seats, fold-flat front passenger seat, power heated side mirrors, automatic tri-zone climate control, power windows with one-touch up/down, illuminated cupholders and door trim panel with ambient lighting, front and rear interior LED lighting, auto-dimming rearview mirror, interior removable and rechargable flashlight, two 12-volt outlets, vanity mirrors, 18-inch wheels, automatic headlights, fog lights, LED taillights, body-colour side mirrors and door handles, trailer sway control, hill start assist, capless fuel filler, driver’s knee airbag, intelligent keyless entry with pushbutton start, and tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel.

Rallye trim adds dual exhaust with bright tips, 20-inch wheels, body-colour grille, fascia, fender lips and mouldings, dark headlights, black headliner, leather-wrapped steering wheel, voice control for radio and phone and an uprated 295-hp V6 engine.

Limited includes polished 18-inch wheels, heated front and rear seats, leather upholstery, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, satellite radio, driver memory for seat, side mirrors and radio, eight-way power driver seat and six-way front passenger seat with lumbar, premium interior door trim, rear park assist, backup camera, auto-dimming driver’s side mirror, side-mirror turn signal repeaters, remote start, security alarm, garage door opener, illuminated vanity mirrors, LED daytime running lights, bright roof rails, exhaust tips and door sill trim, 115-volt power outlet and dual remote USB charging ports.
