CHANGES FOR 2014:
– Base model ILX gets 17-inch wheels, backup camera, and HID headlights.
– ILX Dynamic gets standard navigation and premium audio
Acura has experienced a less than stellar initial year in Canada with their new ILX. The CSX replacement does offer a lot of choice, but doesn’t captivate the same attention as the model it replaces or the older-yet Acura EL. To try to drum up some sales, Acura has added some additional kit to certain models and fiddled with the pricing a bit.
The CSX is available with three different engine options: a mild 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, a mildly hot 2.4L DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, or a super-mild but green 1.5L SOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine with integrated electric motor. The 2.0L engine is available with a five-speed automatic transmission while the 2.4L gets a close-ratio six-speed manual. To maximize fuel economy, the hybrid gets a continuously variable transmission.
The base ILX features include 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, five-speed automatic transmission, hill start assist, 17-inch alloy wheels, six-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio with USB port and auxiliary input, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, airbags (front, front seat, side curtain), vehicle immobilizer, body colour door handles and mirrors, heated power mirrors with expanded view driver’s mirror, HID headlights, backup camera, one-touch power moonroof with tilt, security system, auto-off headlights, map lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, air filtration, Bluetooth telephone connectivity, tilt/telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, leather-wrapped shift knob, maintenance minder system, 5-inch colour information display, power windows with driver and front passenger auto-up/down, keyless entry, push button start, SMS text function, driver’s seat manual height adjustment, fold down rear seatback, fold-down rear seat centre armrest, floor mats, and premium cloth seating surfaces.
Premium Package adds fog lights, auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlights, seven-speaker AM/FM/CD/XM audio with subwoofer, 8-way power driver seat, leather seating, and heated front seats.
Technology Package adds Acura Navigation System, HomeLink, 8-inch LED backlit VGA display, 10-speaker 365-watt premium audio with DVD audio Dolby Pro Logic II and hard disk drive media storage.
ILX Dynamic adds (to Premium Package) 2.4L DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, six-speed manual transmission, Acura Navigation System, metal racing pedals, 8-inch LED backlit VGA display, 10-speaker 365-watt premium audio with DVD audio Dolby Pro Logic II and hard disk drive media storage..
ILX Hybrid adds (to Technology Package) 1.5L SOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, continuously variable transmission with sequential sportshift paddle-shifters and grade logic control, 16-inch alloy wheels, tire repair kit (replaces compact spare tire), and rear spoiler; removes fold-down rear seatback.
